2022 New Years Resolutions

Hi Everyone,
I thought it would be fun/terrifying to share our New Years resolutions for the hobby with each other. We can then check back at the end of the year and see how we did.

My “pledge”

  • Multibase all my elf minis
  • Start and finish a 2000pts forces of nature army
  • Paint more deadzone minis
  • Paint over 100 models!

–Finish printing, painting, and basing my sons’ Undead and Abyssal Dwarf armies.
–Paint at least 100 minis
–Get better at multibasing

For Kings of War:

  • Get all the odds and ends for my nightstalkers done.
  • Get all the minis that I painted during lock down on the table at least once.

Not Kings of War:
-Get my 15mm Medieval (German) army done.
-Round out the Early Imperial Roman army that I got as a gift and get it painted.

finish an army, any army I don’t care which I have many and they’re all in a state of non finishedness.

sort out my terrain and get squads and warbands sorted for skirmish games.

41 for FF (starting with a new faction)
5 random minis

→ Start playing KoW and play more TT games over all!

Mine:

  • Not to paint more than 3 armies!
  • Look to play at least once a month
  • Use armies I haven’t run before (which gets me to July, based on the above!)

  • get my Sylvan Kin to 2k/tournament playable
  • get my halflings to 1k/casual playable
  • run the 4 dragons Undead list

  1. Paint more of my Backlog and pile of shame.
  2. Stick to KoW, Armada and Deadzone and don’t chase the new shiny.
  3. Try a new paint range, wean myself away fro GW paints (Scale 75 on the way!)

I aim to have finished painting all my birthday/Xmas minis…

That is:

Vanguard bassilean warband
Centaur chief
Centaur bray hunter and strider
Thegn on frostfang (already done!!)
DeadZone starter set
Goblin Snaggit
Enforcer heavy weapons team (to be added to as well!)

Also:
Finish my Abyssals for dungeon saga (also for use in vanguard)
Finish my dungeon saga terrain
Try not to but anything more until these are all done!!!

Big one for me is to just take as many painting classes as I can. I don’t have a set number of classes or anything… but before COVID I did a CK Studios airbrush class and got a lot out of it. Now that some options are opening back up, I want to learn new skills and tips that I may have never considered.

I have plans to take around 5 or 6 classes at Adepticon this March if I can sign up quickly once registration is available this Friday!

So I have completed the centaur chief and the bray strider and bray hunter for my daughter’s FoN Vanguard warband.

Next to be completed off the list is probably some of the Basilean warband and finishing off the deadzone starter set (done 100 points of each army so far).

Not in too bad a place for the end of January… I can definitely see the summer causing me to slow down though with other hobbies and distractions!

Oh, and I may have drunkenly bought a heavily discounted dwarf warband the other day to add to the list…
