What are the new rules for individual basing? Can we use 40 or 50mm as we like or is it infantry on 40s and mounted on 50?

There are base converters from 20 or 25 mm to 40mm in the shop, so I would say infantry can’t become 50mm.

Do we know the rules for Ambush armies? I’m thinking about trying to introduce 4th to my group this weekend.

All I’ve seen so far is that it’s up to 1000 points, and a single battalion. I play more Ambush than anything else so those are the rules I’m excited for.

Do you think it should be Core troops count for unlocks?

It could be yeah, I haven’t looked a whole lot at the army building process yet, but that sounds similar to current Ambush I think?

According to this page, Ambush games are up to 1000 points. 1 Battalion on a 3x3 or 4x4 table. No Warlords or Titans, and all Auxiliary Units become Core.

Thanks to @Boss_Salvage for putting out all these lists. Building even basic ambush lists without an app is a pain but I’d never be able make one by going back and forth through a podcast every time I change my mind, that’s for sure.

Until reviewing one of the Direct Missfire podcasts, I had missed that inspiring forces rerolls of wavering results in 4th. Which is something I was wondering about.

The nerve test for withdrawing as well.

Likely that inspiring is harder to access now (given warlord limit and overall cost of heroes), so the humble standard bearer option - which has been almost universally slagged off in the reviews - might actually be useful, esp as they seem to get very inspiring.

I feel like people haven’t quite internalized that the banner bearers get commands. Another point is if the command boosting item prove useful it might even be harder to fit in the talisman.

The banner bearer gets Commands but no Lute, so they’re still barely better than last edition where they needed extra bonus rules to ever get used?

I’m still not entirely sold on Commands. my Undead (my only real army now) don’t get anything exciting.

When you weren’t really restricted in getting access to Inspiring, the SB role probably did need something more - or as you say was just a lute carrier. Now though you are probably source down and the bigger bubble - plus what Inspiring works on now, may mean the do get used.

Obviously this will depend on whether the army gets an inspiring caster type - in which case you just pick them!
