Given how distinctive the Trident Realms and Nightstalkers are, I hope this new faction also feels quite new, but the initial reveal definitely had me thinking “Oh, those are Salamanders” which was not exactly exciting.

What does “Faction A” mean?
So, in each expansion book, Faction “A” is the lead faction in the book, getting the most new models (or whole army!). Faction B gets the next most new models, then C (and maybe D).
So every book will have a Faction A!

So THE ‘faction A’ is in fact just the first ‘faction A’ and therefore a fluffy rework of the Salamanders?

I think we can safely assume this thread is about the first “faction a” (also the only we knew about until now)
or he means the one we think we knew about isn’t Faction A in Book 1 but Book 2
Now I’m confused! There’s only book 1, and so far, that means only one faction A to talk about.

Soooo to recap:
All expansion books will have factions A,B,C,D where A will have the heaviest focus.
The new faction we all talk about will be faction A in the first expansion book.
My guesses for the new faction (after learning about the eastern Abyssal rift?). Not in order.
1: Eastern themed Abyssal
2: An empire that has subdued its neighbours and seeks new conquest
3: A faction that was displaced by the eastern Abyssal and seeks a new homeland.
My final guess is that its the expansionist Xirkaali Empire, and specifically they are eastern-themed gnolls or dragonmen. Surely they’re not just evil salamanders.

gnolls is a good guess, but more Chinese kunming dog than hyena kinda gnoll. Just look at that new kow helmet they put up on Facebook/manticsite:
And the picture of the faction a from the trailer could be a dog head, but way too blurry to be sure. The hind legs could be dog , or even goat like. We definitely need more info. Nothing in the book references that point in any direction regard to the race, from what I have seen.
Only thing that confuses me, about the dragon race theory, is the picture on one of the sails:

I think the thing we can agree on is they are Chinese themed with Chinese boat vessels and weapons.
