In my opinion, the short answer is yes. I built mine summer of last year and I don’t think I could go back.
This was an in progress shot, all of the zip ties are gone and the wiring is stowed.

No, but I do use a regular hobby daylight lamp which is an incredible upgrade over the normal desk-type lamp.
Yes, making the jump from normal desk lights is a step that really yields a return. People tend to be very focused on brushes and paints but seem to neglect the light they need to make full use of them.
