Campaign in Anudora 2025

Hello fellow wargaming enthousiast,

Having started KOW a few months back, my brother and I embarked on a new narrative campaign. It’l be a slow-grow-campaign, where my brother builds up his Basilean forces. And I will resurrect (or paint) my Empire of Dust legions.

The narrative is centered around an Basilian army by the name of Asteron. The Asteron’s embark on a crusade after finding magical portals that lead from the realm of Pantithor to the self invented lands named: ‘Anudora’.

Anudora is sandbox world we invented to have a place where we can have campaigns against each other and our friends.

We will be posting our battle reports here on the forum. Please feel free to leave questions or feedback. The resources we post are free to use, please just give credit to our work when doing so.

battle report coming soon…

Love the write-up! I am a sucker for a narrative campaign and stories like this inspire!

That said, the battle was a tough one for the Basileans. While ghouls and men-at-arms may look roughly equal on paper, in a direct match-up, the ghouls have a distinct advantage. Their higher speed gives them the jump-up on the men-at arms and allow them to gang up on the Basileans. Moreover, supported by the Ghast, they gain Thunderous Charge, so have a distinctive offensive advantage too.

Their weakness (low defense) does come into play, but matters less against a unit of melee 4+ with 12 attacks than against berserker infantry or shooting. Moreover, life leech is more or less equal to iron resolve and keeps them in the fight slightly longer. Finally, though the Basilean high paladin will win one-on-one against the Ghast due to defense 5+/better nerve, in this scenario the higher offensive power of the ghast will help kill the units.

This scenario shows clearly that offense usually trumps defense. Also, this scenario shows that a mixed arms approach usually defeats an army of just the same unit over and over again.

As for tips for the next scenario, the Basileans should upgrade their men-at-arms to Paladin foot guard. Defense 5+ helps a lot here. Moreover, I’d bring a phoenix if I could. 145 points and healing, shooting and a lot of nerve.

As for the hero, maybe either upgrade to an ogre palace guard captain or downgrade to an army standard. I would go for the latter, take the lute of insatiable darkness for extra power and you’ve got a nice small force.
