Listening to all the podcast I can find, before I actually get the book; it seems to me we now have 20 scenarios, and some might be better for a certain type of lists. It is not new, and probably a conscious effort by the RC.
The question is; should we dive into this deeper?
Let us say we define 5 list archetypes; Balanced, Alphastrike, Tanky, Trash, Shoothy. Then we could have 4 scenarios that favours each of the 5 types of lists. And finally, to help the budding TO to make a balanced selection of scenarios; At the end of the scenario description there could be a text like “This scenario favour X-type list, and might be tougher on Y-type list.”
We could even take this one step further and consider which archetype struggle against which, and design scenarios that balance this out. So if list X beats Y most of the time, we can make a scenario where Y is favoured and X suffer.
Ofcourse this leans heavily into the tournament mindset, but I do like the fact that they added the sleeping giants scenario just fun play.
Thoughts?
