Well done fitting so many comments into the 4th wish list Fireside.

I also hope that 4th edition reflects some lore from the novels in army flavour and/or special characters

If lists need to be reduced for 4th and Rhordia gets rolled into Kingdoms of Men.
I think that keeping the flavour in League of Rhordia, but using the labelling/packaging of Kingdoms of Men that make it an obvious gateway for newcomers would be ideal.

Thanks for episode 790.

The technical term for “Timmy, Johnny and Spike” are “Psychographic Profiles”.
It’s a product of game design R&D for Magic the Gathering.

I agree that toxic people increase with community size, but I also think that the game and rules have an impact on the quality of community.
If a game is balanced enough that skill or experience with a list is a greater indicator of winning games that list, then the game is less appealing to players looking to win through netlisting. People who want to win by being toxic will not get much out of KoW.

I must add that it’s a fantastic indication of KoW’s balance that the discussion at Master’s level involves how practiced players are with their list.

Two things to add on tournament scoring, that I think will help new players grok things:
The main function of a scoring system is to separate player based on how well they did, to give a clear winner.
If two people won all their games, who wins the event? Slightly less than half of the event wins the first game, so how do you determine the best results to pair up in round 2 (for Swiss tournament setup).
Ideally each player has a different score at the end.

Second: Soft scores and tournament setup are a way for a TO/driver of the community to influence the community.
Want to encourage new players? Low painting requirements and maybe doubles.
Have a community that’s going well, but you wish more armies were painted? Add paint scores into the next event.
Wish there was an event run in a certain way? Do it!

Thanks for the episode!

Having read Through Thick and Thin, I can confirm that Mark is actually applying what he was saying about developing as an author and how he thinks about things.

I would also like to echo the sentiment about enjoying things for what they are.
