Dwarf army builds - with walking dwarfs as the core?

Good idea, that gives some tactical flexibility against shooting and alpha strikers

I took an all Dwarf infantry list to Masters. I tied for last place but I did make it there in the first place!

Yes, some scenarios are super hard for infantry dwarves, but a couple are really good for us. Unfortunately this year’s Master’s scenarios were; Salt the Earth, Loot, Invade, Push, Raze, and Pillage. Two thirds of them required getting to or past the center line, and that’s literally the worst bunch of scenarios for Dwarves.

Anyway, here’s what I took:

5 Regiments of Ironguard, one with the Brew of Strength

Horde of Bulwarkers with the Hammer of Measured Force

Golloch’s Fury

3 Troops of Sharpshooters

3 Ironbelcher Cannons

Warsmith with the Sacred Horn

Flame Priest with Fireball 10, Bane Chant, and the Inspiring Talisman

Flame Priest with Fireball 10, Bane Chant, and the Warbow of Kaba

16 drops, 23 unit strength.

Looking good, Steel Jugs still seem legit to me. I’m not 100% on the Horn on the Warsmith, but I can see it being a thing with how the Belchers are likely wheeled out in front to do their business + get in the way. Rordin is interesting and really quite the roadblock, tho I might be inclined to swap him (and both items) into a Berzerker Lord on Brock with a 5 point item (Slashing or Fire Oil most likely) to go be a menace and sit down flying things. Unless that violates the Walking Dwarfs caveat :grimacing:

just kitbashing a steel behemoth now, but am seriously considering 2 cannons instead of 2 flame belchers. just need more reach out and touch,

I’m late to the party, but all-infantry Dwarfs is pretty much all I play.

Here’s one of my more recent lists…

Army: Dwarfs
Points: 2000
Unit Count: 15
Unit Strength: 20

250, Shieldbreaker Horde
– Blessing of the Gods
– Throwing Mastiff
165, Ironguard Regiment
– Throwing Mastiff
165, Ironguard Regiment
– Throwing Mastiff
150, Bulwarker Regiment
– Throwing Mastiff
135, Ironwatch Crossbow Regiment
100, Sharpshooter Troop
100, Sharpshooter Troop
200, Dwarf Lord on Large Beast
80, Mastiff Hunting Pack Regiment
– Throwing Mastiff
80, Mastiff Hunting Pack Regiment
– Throwing Mastiff
110, Ironbelcher Cannon
110, Ironbelcher Cannon
120, Flame Priest
– Inspiring Talisman
– Fireball (10)
– Bane Chant (2)
75, Dwarf Army Standard Bearer
– Lute of Insatiable Darkness
160, Berserker Lord
– Blade of the Beast Slayer
– Brock

Basically a core of infantry, supported by some good shooting, the Berserker Lord to help scare off fast flankers and Mastiffs as chaff.

The short ranged shooting from the Throwing Mastiffs and Flame Priest is a key part of the army IMO. It makes it very easy to clear chaff and enables you to better dictate charges in a way that you wouldn’t normally expect for a Sp 4 army.

My Bulwarker Regiment has proven to be an underated anti-flanking unit, but the Crossbows are junk, TBH. But I was determined to give them a try regardless. Realistically I’d rather take a block of Ironclad with Mastiffs, but at least the crossbows weren’t usually terrible.

I’m definitely excited for the CoK update. The Royal Guard formation might become a staple inclusion for my Dwarfs and I’m curious to see how i could incorporate the Berserkers and Battle Drillers. I’m still not convinced by the Flame Cannon (I prefer the range and killing potential of the Ironbelcher), but I am going to give serious thought to the Steel Behemoth.
