Battlefield set up
Standard 6*4 with two large buildings Ht6 on opposite diaganols of the board, and two medium sized woods on the other outer diaganals, a hill Ht3 running the full length of the board along one edge, and a circular bog pool in the centre o one side Ht0 terrain, with a small wood opposite. (the only unbalanced part of scenery placement. and a scattering of fences and hedgerows around the field.
One objective is dead centra, between the pool and the small woods.
Da Fly agarixz placed their own objectives in the woods on their right flank, and on the hill on their left flank, and half way between the pool and the woods. This meant that the horde of spitters could slip into the trees, defend the objective and shoot out, while the Rabble, Sharpsticks and Luggits targetted the centre and protected the second objective. The third was defended by all the trolls, giant and the fleabag riders to attack to other end of the hilll if artillery was placed there. Madfall and the mawbeast pack would harry the opposite flank.
The Mad Moonies, just to make life interesting, pretty much ignored their left flank leaving only the giant there to defend it. They placed an objective a third of the way in, with the legion of Sharpsticks in line to defend it, squeezing between the building and the woods, on their right was the Wiz and king, and then the two regiments of trolls one behind the other, with the king on the chariot and the other chariots on the far side of the small central wood. in front of the horde of chariots was their second objective. Just inside the bigger woods, towards their right flank, was the mawpup launchers, and the Slasher, both of which just about had their leader points within the woods, so could shoot out of them. Hiding behind these woods were the two winggits, ready to fly over them ad rain down fiery death, On the right hand flank just in front of the bigger woods was their final objective, with the fleabag rider sniffs ready to leap to their defence. Behind them was Magwa and Joo. Finally, hard on the right flank was the legion of Fleabag riders with the boots of striding, hoping to race along the hill ridge and steal the FlyAgrixz own objective, or mash into whatever was defending it. Behing them was the rock thrower
Battle lines have been drawn… May the sneakiest git win!
roll to see who goes first…Mad Moonies rolled highest and start.

The Mad Moonies, with no enemy in charge range, marched forward together as a solid wall, protecting their own objective markers with Sharpsticks, chariots and sniffs. The Mawpups were in the wrong angle to equip the few regiments available with Mawpup cages, so fired together at the weakest link in the opposing goblin force: the regiment of trolls, causing three wounds. The Rock thrower missed, as did the Slasher, but the sniffs caused three arrow wounds on the Fleabag riders regiment opposite, hoping to stall their inevitable charge. Magwa and Joos lightning bolt caused two wounds on one of the rabble regiments, and the combined firepower of the king on his chariot and the other chariots caused 5 wounds on the Luggit Gang. The Wiz and king on foot failed to hit, the king’s bow being out of range to shoot. Sadly, no routs or wavers occurred, but they had drawn first blood.

Turn One. Da FlyAgarixz
First mission, protect their own objectives. Spitters, the unwounded regiment of rabble and the horde of trolls secured their objectives with other units moving up to support them. The luggit gang, already severely injured and at rick of routing, rolled d3 and were just able to reach one of the Winggits, hunkered down behind a fence. They committed to a hindered charge. The only other unit available to charge was the regiment of Fleabag riders , who also injured and at risk, attacked the Mad Moonies Fleabag horde, hoping to at least weaken it for the trolls next round. The Regiment of FlyAgarixz trolls healed a wound in regeneration. Then, they let fly with spells and missiles, few though these were.

Kuzlo and Madfall cast Entrall on the Jolly Green Giant and causing a single wound, but drawing him out of the fence he was sheltering behind to make a better target for the Spitter horde in the woods. (who needed 6s to hit anyway, having moved forward to claim the objective.), They hit with 7! and scored a further 2 wounds, making the green giant less jolly! Although not concerned enough to waver or be routed.
The leader of the Troll horde took up his magic bow and aimed at the Fleabag sniffs holding the Mad Moonies objective , but failed miserably, and was lucky not to shoot himself in the foot.
The Fleabag rider regiment released their mawpup (causing 4 wounds!) and attacked the fleabag horde. causing another 4 wounds. but the horde got insane courage and shrugged off the wounds.
The Luggit gang also released mawpups, but only caused 1 wound on the winggit, before wading in, hindered, with their two handed weapons for 6 wounds, (with Brutal, this was enough to waver the Winggit)

The lessthanJolly Green Giant, bellowed his fury and charged at Kuzlo and Madfall. The Sharpstick Legion made a hindered charge at the yet unwounded Rabble regiment blocking their way to Objective 1. while one of the Mad Moon Troll regiments follwed in their wake to support them and protect their own objective 3.
The wavered Winggit, used its nimble move to pivot before backing up half its move, getting out of the way, and protecting itself with the Longhouse taveern building. This gave enough room for the Chariot horde to charge the luggits, if hindered as they were slightly in the woods at the start of the move,
The Fleabag rider sniffs charged the wounded troll regiment, squeezing barely between the horde of trolls and the wall surrounding the tavern, but not getting hindered.
The Fleabag horde countercharged the Fleabag regiment that had charged them last round.
Mawga and Joo hit the same unit in the flank, adding their weight to the attack.
One Mawpup launcher tried to fire a Mawpup cage at the Fleabag riders to aid them even further but failed, The other could see th Sharpstick legion, so tried with more success to equipt them instead.
The Unwavered Winggit focused its attention on the four armed giant, with grenades and eye in the sky to assist the rock thrower’s shots too, The Slasher also aimed at the giant.
The grenades missed, but the Slasher scored five wounds, and the rock thrower a further five wounds…ouch!
The King in the chariot opted against charging over the fence at the wounded rabble regiment , opting to shoot them instead, and causing a further wound. The Wiz lightning bolted them also for a further wound and the king on foot fired his bow also, but failed to add to the tally.
The Rabble survived, but the Four Armed Giant of the FlyAgarixz was routed, and had no one to rally him.

Mad Moonies Combat round 2.
The Jolly Green Giant smashed inti Kuzlo, and scored 7 wounds to the goblin lizard combo. routing him with 2 fives rolled for moral twice, and marched onward towards the pack of mawbeasts in the rear. (which then took him out of LoS of the Spitters in the woods too)
The Sharpstick legion, released their newly aquired Mawpup from its cage at the regiment of FlyAgarixz Rabble, causing two wounds, before attacking (hindered) and managed a further 4 wounds. 6 wounds +8 rout roll was enough to rout the uninspired Rabble regiment, and the Mad Moon Sharpstick legion marched forward, hoping to contest objective 1. (although the fence hampered them and they only got 2" forward, It was sufficient however to be within 3" of the objective. The Flyagarixz had a unit of their own Sharpsticks protecting the objective, but with goblins, numbers matter, and a Legion will beat a horde on unit strength any day of the week. This meant that the Fly Agarixz would have to commit their own Legion of Rabble sitting safely in the bog in their turn, to the fight for the objective, or lose it,

The Hindered Mad Moon Chariots attack on the Luggit Gang next, hoping to dominate the middle of the board. causing 3 wounds to the already weakened Luggits. The uninspird Luggits routed also.
The Right flank… The Fleabag rider sniffs attacked the regiment of trolls, who were drunk on dwarven ale and headstrong. Surprisingly, they managed 4 wounds, which added to the 2 unregenerated made 6+another great nerve roll of 8 was just enough to rout the trolls, beer or no.
The sniffs opted to pivot, hopig to flank the larger horde of trolls, or at least get a frontal charge which their Dragonshard sheild would offer some protection from.
Finally, the double charge on the poor injured regiment of Fleabag riders from horde and Magwa. but thankfully no mawpups! Magwa caused them 5 damage , bringing them to 9 wounds, with a further 6 from the legion of Mad oon Fleabags. …and insane courage was not forthcoming for the courageous regiment… leaving the Flyagaricxz Troll horde alone on the flank and heavily outnumbered.

This is what happens when you follow a meglamaniac wizard who doesnt cast spells, but things its a good idea to wade into combat wearing dwarven gauntlets!
Time for some drastic measures!

Hoping to wipe out the Legion of Mad Moonies Sharpsticks in one go, and control that section of the battlefield, both the Sharpstick horde and the pirate rabble legion of the FlyAgarixz charged, (the Rabble hindered by the bog they had been sitting in)
Grupp Longnail attacked the King in the Chariot with a hindered charge over the fence, while the remaining regiment of Rabble charged the chariot horde.
The Mawbeast pack regiment attacked the Jolly Green Giant, and the surrounded Troll horde on the left flank, sought a means of escape by attacking the weakest link , the horde of Fleabag riders with 8 wounds already,
The horde of Spitters in the woods protecting Objective 2 could only shoot at a regiment of trolls peering out from behind the Sharpstick horde, that were just in range but had some cover.
They managed 2 wounds and wavered the Trolls.

Grupp threw the first somewhat hindered punch with his dwarven knuckledusters, four FULG’UR hits, stunning the king, …and seven wounds, 9 rolled to rout, but inspiring, and only 5 on the reroll. insufficient to even waver,… Dude! you had one job!!!
The Rabble regiment released their mawpups who did 3 wounds to the chariots, the Rabble made it 6 wounds… and rolled 8, wavering the Chariot horde.
The Horde of Trolls attacking the Fleabag horde managed 6 wounds +8 previous=14+ rout roll5=19 Only enough to waver the Fleabags, leaving the Trolls flank and rear exposed!
The Mawbeast pack attacked the giant, and managed only 5 wounds, bringing the tally to 8… divine intervention needed now!
rout roll 8, meaning the Jolly Green Giant was unwavered and rapidly turning into the Hulk.
Both the Sharpstick horde and the Rabbble legion had a mawpup to release, and combined these caused 5 wounds to the cave dwelling Sharpstick legion. The hindered pirate Rabble needed 6s to hit, got 7, and 4 wounds with the help of the Hammer of force. the Sharpstick horde a further 3 giving a total of 5+4+3=12+ rout roll7=19, again unable to even waver the legion of Mad Moon Sharpsticks.

Only the end of turn two, but the battle was all but lost due to poor luck on the FlyAgarixz part.

Turn 3, part one. Mad Moonies get to play…
with three wavered units, the regient of trolls who had taken some arrow wounds, the Horde of Fleabag riders and the Chariots, it was time to change things up and keep the pressure on the FlyAgarixz. Both units backed up. Giving room for others to attack. The Troll horde was flanked by the Goblin Slasher, while the Fleabag sniffs claimed the opponents objective 6 unhindrered, sadly they had no one to fire arrows at.
Similarly, the Rock thrower had nothingin LoS to shoot at as the only unengaged enemy was hiding in trees at the opposide side of the board, so opted to move to a better position. One of the Winggits flew behind the Rabble pirate legion, hoping to attack it, or the spitters from the rear next turn. The Mawpup lauchers threw Mawpups to the Sharpsticks and Fleabag riders. The other winggit, along with Magwa and Joo’s charged into the flank of the rabble regiment that had recently wavered the chariots. As the King in the chariot was disordered, he would attack Grupp, although a bit dazed from the thumping he got. One regiment of trolls charged the Rabble pirate horde, along with the King on foot, while the Sharpstick legion took on the sharpstick horde. Finally, the Jolly Green Giant would go all hulk on the Mawbeasts.
The Wiz, likewise had nothing to cast spells at, so attacked the rabble horde too.
The Slasher’s fank attac on the troll horde caused only 5 wounds, but again had decent nerve rolls scoring 14 in all…which was just enough to waver the trolls, ready for the fleabags to attack from front and rear next turn…
Magwa and Joos scored 5 wounds on the Rabble regiment, the Winggit an addittional wound, bringing them to 10 wounds in total . another devastating nerve roll routed them and they advanced together on Gruppp’s flank. The King in the Chariot , (ensnared, and a little concusssed therefore losing hs crushing strength, managed 3 wounds on Grupp. but failed the rout him.
The cave dwelling trolls did 3 wounds on the pirates, the wiz did a further one!!!, and the king only managed a further 1, bringing the tally to 5 wounds. and they stood their somewhat boggy ground.
Next came the Sharpstick legion attacking the Sharpstick horde. First… release the mawpups!
Two wounds… (Given that one of these has Iron Resolve and the other Lifeleech… they could be here all day…) They caused 6 wounds themselves, and healed back three of their own. 2+6 wounds+ nerve roll of 9 =17, insufficient to waver. and the Sharpstck horde get a life back for Iron resolve,
Finally, the jolly green giant who did 5 wounds on the pack + brutal + nerve roll of 11… exit stage left Mawbeast pack!
The Giant pivots ready to attack the Spitters Flank.
Recap:
Two of the three Fly Agarixz objectives are now under threat and must be reclaimed or lost at the end of their turn 3.

Turn 3 FlyAgarixz

The Troll Horde.regenerate 2 wounds back, but are surrounded and wavered,.
Grupp hoped to wipe out the King in the Chariot, and countercharges
The Sharpstick horde does likewise with the legion.
The pirate Rabble Legion, attack the King with the Jareth’s Pendant, to prevent any inspiring rolls/headstrong aura, ignoring the trolls and wiz for now.
The Spitters pivot 90 degrees and shoot wildly in the direction of the irate giant. 4 shots hit, but none with enough force to wound.
The legion of pirates manage 4 wounds on the King, roll 11 to rout him, but he is inspired, so reroll … and get a 10, so the King flees.
Because the King is not Mighty, the Rabble pirates can continue onwards and attack the Wiz, hoping to wipe him out too then kill the trolls…
They score eight wounds against the Wiz and roll 8 to rout, but the other king inspires a reroll, which also routs the Wiz. The Rabbble go on to attack the Trolls. , getting two wounds, and a nerve roll of 8=10, which sadly falls slightly short of enough to waver them… bt still. it was a decent effort. Their Hammer of Measured force came in useful.
Finally Grupp attacks the other king, hitting with all 8, and thanks to Blast scores 12 wounds bringing the King to 19 wounds… or a bloody pulp… nerve roll was a 3, but insufficient to get insane courage, The King is Dead!.
The Rabble did enough to save objective 1 for now. However, Objective 6 had ben won by the Fleabag sniffs, as the Horde of Trolls was too far away to protect it.

1 point to the Mad Moonies.

Turn 4 Part a, Mad Moonies attacks

The Fleabag rider horde charge back into the Trolls front , who had not turned while wavered to face the Slashers flank attack, so the Slasher countercharged back into that flank, and just to make sure, the Sniffs hit them from the rear.
With no unengaged enemy to throw grenades at, the two Winggits charged, one into the boggy flank of the pirate ship and its legion of Rabble, the other injured Winggit went into its rear.
The Previosly wavered Chariots swerved across to hit Grupp in the front, while Magwa hit his side, both being hindered by the fence unfortunately.
The Sharpstick legion continued its inevitable grind on the FlyAgarixz Sharpstick horde, and The Jolly Green Giant finally came to grips with the pesky spitter horde that had been desperatly trying to pincushion him from the woods. psst hiding in woods is no use againsts giants btw
Jolly rolled well getting a full compliment of attacks, but missed with 9 of the 14 attacks, getting a shed load of snakes eyes. however, all 5 hits wounded. so with Brutal, 6+8 nerve roll=14, and the Spitters survived…for now.
Mawpups were released by the Sharpsticks and Fleabag riders, causing 1 wound to the Sharpstick horde, (and two to the doomed trolls btw).
The Sharpstick legion were impressive, causing ten wounds of their own, bringing the total wounds to 18, and a further 8 on the nerve test to wipe out the FlyAgarixz Sharpstick horde and with a clever pivot manouever they march onto the objective 1 while still protecting their own objective 3… not that anyone is likely to challenge them for it.
it does have their backs facing the backs of the enemy Spitters, but they have their own problem to deal with.
The Winggits attack next from flank and rear, but both hindered by bogwater terrain,so needing 6s to hit. The rear one got a hit in, and wounded the Rabble legion. but the flank charge failed to wound at all. Then the two Regiments of trolls that had been in reserve smashed into the pirates from the front. causing a further 11wounds…ouch. bringing the total to 17, +nerve roll7 is 24… not quite enough to waver the pirates, but very close.
Magwa leaped at Grupp, hoping to finish him off, despite the hindering fence and Grupps ensnare, hit 8 times, wounding 7 times, which meant that Grupp had 10 wounds so far needing insane courage to stick around, but the chariots hit next, finally getting to use their brew of crushing strength to cause a further wound .bringing it to 11. Grupp did not pull snake eyes out of his hat , and fled.
Can the trolls surive against all odds? they took a further 7 wounds from the horde of Fleabags, the Sniffs stabbed them in the back for another 6, and the Slasher gave them 8 more, bringing the pulpy mess to 28 wounds … the trolls nerve test roll was a 1… and then a 5 … they died a glorious death though… Saga worthy.

At this point, even a draw was impossible, even if the Legion of \Rabble pirates could break free of the trolls and Winggits, they had a Legion of Sharpsticks threatening their other flank ready to charge next round, Magwa &Joo on the other flank, and a horde of chariots blocking their way towards any objective, and the Horde of Spitters couldnt fight their way out of a wet paper bag, couldn’t shoot as they were disordered and had an angry giant chopping lumps out of them., It was time to sue… beg for peace terms.

Lessons learned… don’t throw individuals into big combats to tip the balance, or if they don’t manage to tip them far enough, the opponent gets to assassinate characters willy Nilly.
Grupp packs a punch, but you still need an inspiring Wiz with Bane chant / A king/Biggitor Mawpup launchers to help your infantry units pack a punch and not waver.
i’d take Magwa & Joos any day over Grupp
Although the bigger units didn’t need inspiring, the FlyAgarixs regiments, giant ext were decimated by ranged attacks, and died through lucky dice rolls on Nerve tests that an Inspiring character might have prevented.
