How is the new lore updates treating everyone?

Is there anything you’d hope to see that was set up in invasion that would like to see mantic address lorewise in future updates, or any new story threads that invasion could set up or have a big conclusion to? anything lore wise, just curious about what everyone thinks.

I generally like that the Invasion is progressing but the Xirkaali are not having an easy time making progress.

The schism the two Shining Ones caused in Basilea is interesting given the fact this is one of the few times we see opposing viewpoints among them. Also just how the heck are the clergy and fanatics going to deal with this? The whole situation is a powder keg that can explode with one wrong move.

As a dwarf fan I do look forward how the War of Stone is going to go, since they are going to have to deal with the Xirkaali during or after the civil war and who knows what the Abyssal Dwarves are up to.

The Green Lady her seeming shift to the darker forces and her plan does make sense, since the Xirkaali aren’t an ‘Evil’ faction and the Green Lady would never destroy either the Wicked or Shining Ones, but it is cool to see opposition from both the Salamanders and the Celestial Azuon. It is nice seeing the fallout and problems to her plan laid out instead of the story going “Oh the neutral party was right all along” .

Although I’m somewhat sad the Brotherhood/Order of the Green Lady isn’t in the book I am happy to know they have plans for them, probably to Mantic-fy the faction, and that they didn’t betray who they are and just going along with the Green Lady her plan, so instead just left her.

You know, i kinda hope they do a nightstalkers or undead lore update, that and fleshing out what’s happening with the empire of dust. I’d also like to see forces of nature get an update. All they have is the elementals. I’d like to see the herd and the silvan folded into them. Also, it’s been a while since the ogres and orcs & goblins update to their respective lores. Maybe an abyss vs xiirkali plotline would be cool as well.

Agreed - I’m curious to see how this goes. It’s actually got me thinking that we might see a bit of a civil war between the two factions, eventually leading to a new army of “Fallen” Baslieans, who tried and failed to merge the Shining and Wicked halves of a Celestian and were damned in the process.

The fact that I’m building an Abyssal army that would fit perfectly into that narrative is completelty unrelated to this. Honest. :stuck_out_tongue:

As a fellow Dwarf fanatic I’m pretty hyped to see how the War of Stone progresses - the two novels about it so far have been a great read. Given the timeline, I suspect the war will be resolved by the time they have to face the Xirkaali. But facing an invasion so soon after their civil war will definitely complicate things for the Dwarfs.

Regarding the Abyssal Dwarfs, I have some hopes about who’s going to be in charge by the time the Xirkaali arrive, but for the sake of spoilers I won’t elaborate.

Other random things I’d like to hear more about;

  • The Goblin City of Shimmergloom(?) in Lower Mantica. It’s always caught my eye, but there’s very little about it thus far. I think that’s where Groany Snark is from??
  • The city of Blight, north of the Xirkaali Empire. Oni-styled ogres sound pretty cool, but I feel like there’s more to what’s going on there than just “Eastern Ogres”.
  • Tetsumo Shogunate, mainly for the sake of my son, who thinks Vampire Ninjas sound awesome. :stuck_out_tongue:
  • The Dwarfs that are part of the Xirkaali Empire, in particular how their culture differs from their cousins in Mantica.
  • The few Abyssal Dwarfs who entreat with Nightstalkers. I believe they’re mentioned once or twice in the new lore, so I’m curious to know more.

Since much of it is probably Dravak’s fault, it might be nice if he comes back and fixes it!

Not had an opportunity yet to go though all the background - need to have spare hobby cash to pick up pdfs of the rule books - but do want to find out what’s going on with KoM/Rhordia/halflings to see how I need to tweak things for my sprawling army, who currently reside here:

What would be cool is a kingdom of men box, what kind of army do you think they’d be? I still hold it’d be some kind of empire of man from Warhammer fantasy analogue. While we do have a fairly shoot-y army with dwarves; you could do some kind of artillery army that’s more focused on mortars and missile batteries, especially if you do the pike and shotte/ golden age of piracy era that Warhammer’s empire does.

I think they did mention during a video with Alessio that they plan to make models for Kingdoms of Men down the line but they made clear they will not look like Empire or Bretonnia.

Reinventing the wheel for the sake of reinventing the wheel. The cool thing about KoM is that they are in-lore a very varied bunch of successor states of Primovantor, so I hope they keep them varied instead of going “actually, all Kingdoms of Men follow this specific tradition and also dress the same”

Yeah, this really. Plus it’s not just the successor states that get covered by the army list, but potentially anywhere - inc Ophidia, the northern tribes and now Rhordia.

Stylistically, the artwork for then has quite a “oathmark” model range vibe, together with the fireforge northern kingdoms look rather than GW (old or new)

okay, it’s still cool that we’re getting official kom boxes though. I wonder what they will be like. I hope they have some cool lore to them because up until now, it’s just sort of been “well they exist.” Maybe, they’d have some sort of grudge against basilea because of how uptight and arrogant basils tend to be with their attitude about being the “big dogs” for humanity and especially the way they down on the brotherhood and northern alliance.

I also really hope they do something with the “whenever there’s a big conflict between good and evil, different Kingdoms of Men fight on both sides”

That would be really cool with humanity being the “neutrals” of the big races. Maybe have an ophidians box set with them siding with the wicked ones since we’ve already got the twilight kin “siding” With the nightstalkers.
