Kingdom of Men (Romans) vs The Herd (Celts)

The Herd moved well in the crowded city streets, racing over obstacles, leaping hedges and racing through orchards, thanks to the Pathfinder rule, but were as hampered as the Kingdom of Men when it came to charging , and although they tenderized some of the KoM units, they failed to rout, or even Waver any of them.

Turn Three Part Two : (Otherwise known as Road Rage.)…Kingdom of Men. The streets of the town were hevily congested with crowds fighting in the streets, (Just the usual saturday night rioting of drunken mobs on stag dos and Hen Parties, one might point out). Jostling like its a minute passed nine on Black Friday morning, and the doors of the local Electrical goods store are just being opened, the KoM units try to get charges and counter charges in wherever possible, but it wasn’t easy.

As can be seen from the overhead shots, the western forces couldn’t actually see anything to charge between the units in front, and the dense woods. The Wavered Harpies were visible for many, and were double charged with a regiment of (Shield Wall (Roman Legionaires) and the Mammoth again. Caught in the open, but unavle to charge anything by LOS , The Spear Phalanx (Veterans ) could only turn to face the inevitable charge by one of the Regiments of Spirit Walkers.
The General on his Winged Beast would get a chance to counter the Lycans, but another KoM Shield Wall and Foot Guard could only prepare for the outcome, and be ready to support if needed. The Mounted Sergeants could either charge the Greater Earth Elemental that was loitering in range, or try and finish off the Silent Hunt that had wiped out their other unit of Mounted sregeants. The Hero on horse opted to go first, and charged Softhoof before his view became hampered by the Mounted Sergeants own charge . If all went well, they could all gang up on the Elemental next turn.
Militia Men fighting Tribal Warriors is like watching a kettle boil. They can take all day killing each other with death by either a thousand cuts or boredom. Needless to say the stag do on the left flank is still unresolved and probably will stay that way.
The General on Winged Beast tore chunks out of the Lycans, but they’ll probable regenerate it next turn as they only wavered, The Mounted Sergents surviving unit managed to clear out the second regiment formation of The Silent Hunt, but the Hero only knicked Softhoof (note to self : invest in a pet big cat next time!)… finally, in case you were rooting for the Harpies, the combined attack of Mammoth and Shield wall was more than it could cope with. Once routed, the regiment moved forward to gather up the cows and take them out of harms way.

Turn Four: Part One -The Herd. I’d forgotten how important having an insppiring hero was in KoW, so the western forces of both sides were uninspired, which might not have been a good thing, when all said and done. However, now that he was finished his duel with the Battle Standard Bearer, the Greater Cheiftain on his Minotaur chariot moved in to rectify that, at least for the Herd units. As the Gladewalker Druid didn’t need to Surge the Greater Earth Elemental into a charge, he opted to heal him instead, and as luck would have it, he did that sublimely. The Lycan also regenerated, but as they were wavered, the backed sideways 4 " which gave the Elemental all the room he needed to charge the KoM General on WB.
The Tribal warriors behind The G.E.E. were then able to see the Mounted Sergeants who was at the maximum of their charge distance, but could be reached. In front of them though was the duel between the mounted hero and Softhoof, so they charged the Hero, hoping to wipe him out and continue on to the M Sergeants.
Finally, the first of the three regiments of Spirit Walkers successsfully charged the Shield wall, which had anticipated the charge and turned to face the threat.
The rest of the Herd shuffled around trying to get in a better position to get into the thick of things.

The combined attack on the mounted hero on the Herd’s right wing were enough to kill him, but the Tribal warriors fell short of reaching the Mounted Warriors, merely boxing them in with enemies on all sides.
The Greater Earth Elemental stomped the General on WB, but couldn’t continue as the General wasn’t an individual, so had to stop an inch short of the next unit.
As for the left flank, that didn’t go as expected… at all. The Tribal Spears upped their game and routed the Militia Mob Regiment they had been fighting in the woods, and folloewed the fleeing men out until the next unit of Militia Mob blocked their way. It might have been wiser to stay put and force the Militia to charge into the wood, hindered, but by moving, it made room for the units to the rear to come to their aid. Only time would tell.
Likewise the Tribal warriors wiped out the second Militia that had been half in/half out of the woods. but all they could do was swivel to face the next unit’s right flank, should they get to charge, or be charged on the next turn. Finally, the hindered regiment of Spirit Walkers attacked the Spear Phalanx (Veterens) but did little damage.

Turn Four: Part Two Kingdom of Men A quick tally of units quickly calculated to mean the Kingdom of Men were in trouble. They had a total of eight units, six of which were now engaged in combat. The others were in the cow field. The Shield wall was turning to face the southern Hills ready to herrd the bovine prize to safety, while the Mammoth did its best to discourge anyone who might want to stop them.
Meanwhile; The KoM 's left flank consisted of three units engaging three Herd Units, with a Gladewalker Druid and Softhoof helping out in a supporting level. The (Praetorians ) Regiment of Foot Guard with Indomitable Will , had charged the Greater Earth Elemental after the Regiment of Shield Wall had swerved over to charge the Lycans. Had it been the other way around, the Regiment of Foot Guard would have been forced to go through the edge of the woods for the most direct charge.
The surviving Mounted Sergeants charged into a regiment of Tribal Warriors, hoping desperately for a quick kill so it could prevent itself getting swamped in enemies.
Despite the soundness of the plan, the status quo pretty much remained the same. More wounds on units, but none routed. The only bit of good news that came out was one unit of Tribal spears and another of Warriors were Wavered.
