not sure about Flock, I know some products still use that term but than I am not a native speaker so what I know and what is used differs

yet a great source for multi basing are railway model scenic and terrain guides as most things can be used 1:1

Flock is definitely still a thing - it’s just that gaming companies moved away from the phrasing into scatter, ground cover etc

Obviously without sight of the rules it’s a bit of a guess, but if the rules regarding multibasing has a bit of description/examples its ok, if not really clear for complete newbies?

People can of course just “glue the models onto the MDF base” and be done with it, and indeed I’ve heard Ronnie promote a straightforward approach like this for newbies in interviews he’s done.

But I think sometimes people in the hobby for a long time forget that actually a lot of care goes into “proper” (decent hobby level) multibase preparation, and for newbies there is some research and extra materials required.

Even if it is just going to be a base which has a few different levels added by means of cork sheets, and then terrain sprayed, and finished off with some kind of base material like sand, and a few bits of vegetation, people need the materials and to read a blog / watch a video.

I’m just making the point that individual basing is more straightforward. There’s the added benefit that individual basing also provides something to grip when painting the model initially. No messing around with temporary basing like most of us do in KOW.

Once the multi-based units are done, of course, they then become more straightforward to store, deploy and manage than a hoard of individually based models, it must be admitted.
