So, although the new plastics feel a lot bigger, they’re actually just better proportioned.
I’ve got 66 new ogres, time to start replacing last year’s army. Going to be a like for like swap using the same bases, plus a few extra units. So there will be:
3x warrior hordes with two handed weapons
1x boomer horde
2x shooter horde
1x berserker horde
1x hunter horde
1x siege breaker horde
The other 20 ish ogres are for some Ambush regiments, probably two warriors, one shooters, maybe one hunters.
Final lot of ogres are for chariots. Couple of warrior chariot regiments, a boomer regiment, and a character or two.

Possible ogre slasher conversion. It works, but I think I will go with a fighting platform instead. War trombone will be represented by a dwarf organ gun I think, like a big duckfoot, swappable for a cannon to be the bolt thrower.

yeah that was actually a specific requirement for the sprue funnily enough. I really like it as a nod to the old hero, and a good chance for people to make the hero from the standard sprue, updated to be in keeping with the new plastics and resins.

I am completely in love with the idea of Ambush, I’m making an Ogre ambush army before I do the main Kings of War army. I’m also doing Forces of the Abyss, and Abyssal Dwarfs for Ambush. Along with my Empire of Dust that will be four Ambush armies initially. I’ve also got halflings, brothermark, Northern Alliance, Ratkin…
Regiments of 20, a hero, a war engine, a monster, it really reminds me of the old like 5th edition Fantasy White Dwarf army photos and makes me all nostalgic. Very excited to get these all made.
AD will be regiments of black souls, troops of decimators, lesser golems, halfbreeds, and a katsuchan.
FoA will be Seductress, Succubi, tortured souls, flamebearers, and chroneas.
Ogres are going to be all two handed warriors, hunters, warlock. very exciting.

Some of the most fun tournaments I’ve been to were some of Clive’s 1000pr events at high Wycombe.
Very tactical but you could play out several games in a day easily
Played ambush fir the first time a few weeks ago and had a brilliant time
Very tempted to do halflings and EOD purely for ambush
