Hi all. I have just bought the Mega Box and subscribed to the Vault in order to get the STLs for the Nightstalker prints available. This means that I have the following models available to either build or print in order to make a competitive list (as a noob having a half decent list must surely help…)
Anyway, this is what I have built from the box or can print multiples of from the Vault:
Horror
2 Regiments of Scarecrows or 1 horde
2 Regiments of Tormentors or 4 Troops (mix of each)
2 Hordes of Butchers or 4 Regiments (mix of each)
2 Butcher Fleshrippers
Terror
x Bloodworms (3d print proxy models) - unlimited
x Soulflayers (3d print) - unlimited
x Shadow Hulk (3d print) - unlimited
1 Portal of Despair (proxy)
1 Esenyshra (proxy)
1 The Dream Hunter (3d print)
x Dread-fiend / Fiends (3d print)- unlimited
xMind-Screech (3d print) - unlimited
I dont want to purchase anything else so any tips on what to do or if you are feeling generous with your time… build me a list to get me started. Looking to play at 2300pts
13 drops and 28 US, with deployment flexibility from the formation. Scarecrows as objective sitters, plenty of CS and the bloodworms have the volume of attacks to chew through lower De stuff. 2 RoL sources and heal7 should help keep things alive.
Depending on your local scene you could swap the 2 scarecrow regiments for a horde and switch the Shadowhulk for a terror to give you more anti Infantry attacks, or ditch the formation for the normal units and do the same thing - although you lose the redeploy.
I think I prefer this? And turning the Dream Hunter into another regiment of Soulflayers. I think the main reason to bring the Drunter is because the mini is great (I’ve never actually seen him on a table), while the 'Flayers are insanely good, especially if you’re using command dice.
Shout out to Hammer of Measured Force on the Blorms, it’s a living nightmare for De 6+ things in particular. Which seems obvious to say but it significantly ruins my day when I face it, versus other HOMF hordes that I feed garbage too. I think it’s the Me 4+ / De 4+ base (totally serviceable) backed up by many attaks and massive nerve.
Thanks for taking the effort to comment. I had thought that Hammer on the Worms would appear superior to the Brew of Sharpness as there are not many units that I can see in the book with Defence worse than 4+ but plenty with greater than 4+.
If I take the Hammer instead of the Brew I save 25pts which I can then use to by the Scrying Gem which would then give me 3 redeploy units and D3+1 forced drops so my opponent has to drop between 5 to 7 units before I have to drop my first real choice.
I have the Terror from the box so can swap this for the Shadow Hulk as you suggest depending upon what I see around and then play around with the Scarecrows for the points. I think I am mean to screen the Tormentors behind the Regiments of Scarecrows…
