In the new rulebook, it is mentioned that some troop types have become “obsolete“ but their base sizes can still be used in 4th edition just for “legacy“ reasons. This includes heavy infantry and titans (among others). What does it exactly mean. Does it mean that heavy infantry units can now be based on the same bases as regular infantry units, e.g. a heavy infantry troop on the 100x40 mm base? If so, then players with units on legacy bases will be handicaped as their units will have larger footprint, which represents a significant difference for the heavy infantry horde.
Not so many years ago some monsters have become titans and people were asked to rebase their models but it was not so difficult as the respective bases were just enlarged. If the titan bases become obsolete now (or in a foreseeable future) my understanding is that people will have to rebase the same models again, this time to smaller bases. Seriously, is it really ment to be so?! Where is the consistency?
I also do not get why the armies with “updated lore and army composition“ (those in the Invasion book), which should be fully compatible with the new rules, still keep some units of the “obsolete” types. Though, this is a minor issue. Personally, I think this change will anger quite many long time players who have units on scenic bases that have suddenly become “obsolete“.
