Larger base size is generally less advantageous to you, but in general base sizes are key so id try to stick to them. No need to have full model count so long as the base looks full.
Reapers are a pain to get to anything approaching model counts… Just suspend normal approaches. They take up more ‘real space’ on a base than an ogre does.
Had a similar issue lately, with Abyssal Berserkers, and for one of my regiments I did what others have done, and just did a two models.
I slightly regret not taking my time more, as I’ve since realised that you can fit three on a base, as Mantic do, the key seems to be just to pose the arms downward, and that helps.
Main issue, as you touch on, is that the rules don’t allow for units to be bigger than specified (heroes, monsters/titans and war machines can be).
I used 5/6 reapers on a troop base and 10-12 as a regiment and they full ‘full’ which is the main thing now, rather than hitting a specific number of models.
Good point sir.
It was simply an issue for me because of my thinking of,
“Well I got 20, now to figure out a way fit them all on the two bases provided.”
Got to learn to let go of that thinking.
Either way I got some 40mm round bases, so leftovers will get forcefully conscripted for the Warpath Firefight table.
Also great paint job and overall base setup from your son.
I based up some forces of nature (from vanguard) and then my daughter painted some fire elementals and water elementals (with some direction from me). Adding a dungeon saga model (gladewalker) and the druid from vanguard and we have a 750pt ambush force!
My daughter did a good job on the elementals. I also have an old wyvern we can add as a winged beast of nature to go to 1000pts ambush
Awesome! Well done @MechaSturgeon !
Always helpful to have a nameplate for paint judging, glad she’s got that handled already
Great looking force! Really fun variety in Nature
KoW painting finished for the year - roughly 7500pts (so down on last couple of years!).
Much of it was doing gribbly monsters or people shopping!
Great looking stuff as always @Sceleris!
As we finish the year i have finished off some luggits i have had for ages. Some are multi based and some are not (for use in Vanguard and in dungeon saga origins). I also smashed out a flaggit quickly too
2 final additions to this year:
first of all: a legion of chariots: (goblins of course)
then secondly, a titan for my to-be-revitalised Abyssal army. He’s either the well of souls or the abyssal archfiend, whichever I may need.
Any good ideas for the name for the 2025 painting thread?
Nope, but feel free to open one!
This was the very first model I ever purchased after being introduced to WHFB 4th Ed. Painting topic - Terrific Twenty-four - #127 by screamingaddabs
I fell in love with the quirky gobbos and have been playing them ever since, including after leaving with the destruction of the OldWorld and heading over to KoW.
I used to love estimating ranges with this guy, getting them bang on and then having him crash off somewhere else.
While I prefer the balance of KoW I miss the mischievousness and unpredictability flavours of the OG, O&G army.
