Perhaps Mantic could pay him to spend more time on it?
Edit: I didn’t buy the book as I thought it would be immediately out of date. I’ve been surprised with the number of issues with the companion - and I’ve only been looking for errors in one army (maybe TR were less accurate than other lists). I don’t know if to get it all adjusted takes ages or whether it’s stopped being worked on as the hours/money ran out. Or maybe it gets a couple of hours maintenance once a week?
Just to add… give it a month and I think all will be in order. Trident realms were probably the worst affected, but in general Mantic are pretty good at keeping the companion correct. The issues recently have been due to two games being released as brand new editions (KoW plus epic) plus the Xmas break. They’re not a perfect company and mistakes happen, but in general I have found the companion to be quick to be corrected and reliable.
There are quite a few casters who get direct access to spells from the arcane library at different rates to getting then through the AL itself. This has always seemed to be a conscious decision, rather than an error.
What’s up with support tree herders now having US 2? The iron sentinel is still US blank. I’d love for them to relent and give these two support heroes full US, as it’s kind of a dumb choice as is, but I’m wondering if it’s an errata or an error …
the pipes of terror dont add up correctly. in the case of the rhino riders, the rules state that its correct to olny use the higjer value, but it would be less confusing for newer player to only have one brutal.
Yes, I know that on the YouTube video we were told that the team were looking to do faq and errata that weekend (I think). It would be really good just to know when we will get updates on companion errors and/or full rules errata etc. I don’t even mind if it’s not for a few weeks, but not having a date is frustrating.
I lost any hope in seeing an update in the near future. It’s a month after the Q&A and nearly two months after the release, but still no update. There are armybuilders for several games developed and updated by volunteers who work at them in their free time and you see updates for games like The Old World within 1 or 2 weeks afte the release of a new army or alternative list. And they don’t want money for the armybuilder.
But the Companion isn’t for free (if you want the full rules) and there are people paid to work at it (probably several hours a week), but no update so far…
I wouldn’t mind a wait if we could be told a firm date and have it happen. Matt said on the YouTube video that they were going to do stuff that weekend (I forget the exact phrasing). I get that it takes time, but you should know when you’re going to do the update for your flagship game and you should make damn sure you got that date. It doesn’t matter much to me personally (casual gamer, going to use the models I’ve got) but it just looks bad, annoys people list building, and gives people the impression of not caring (even if that’s very much not true).
I realise this perhaps comes off a bit whining and entitled, but I’m mainly just frustrated that these very simple things (communicate a date and deliver on it) that should be easy wins are not being done.
It would be simple to say “update happening on X date, this will be beta for a couple of weeks, pending final checks. Moving to alpha on Y date. After that, updates will be every x weeks as we continually keep on top of minor issues. Full change log can be found at xyz”.
In the same way that units cannot access Heroic artifacts from the drop down - and when characters are choosing them it’s made clear with the “Infantry and Cavalry only” notation on the restricted ones.
