If a unit takes a ranged attack or spell solely from a magical item, special rules such as Elite or Vicious do not apply to it.
But what if an existing spell, such as Lightning Bolt or Windblast, is enhanced by a Boomstick or Zephyr Crown? Do the additional dice really follow different rules, and can a Summoner Crone only deal damage with her normal Windblast? Is an elvish mage able to reroll 1 for all dice? -
) Should items like the “Blade of Slashing” really be handled exactly as described in the rulebook?
It may happen that an item or special rule applies a bonus to only some of the unit’s Combat attacks and the unit is fighting against multiple enemy units (e.g. the Blade of Slashing allows one dice to be re-rolled). In these cases, after allocating the attacks, the player must declare against which enemy unit the bonus is applied to before rolling any dice.
That sounds wrong in and of itself, but it also means that a model splits its attacks, misses, and then isn’t allowed to reroll because it targeted the other unit. That makes so little sense…
And what about “Tenacity” in this context? Do the same nonsensical rules apply or not? After all, this isn’t a reroll caused by a magical item. But it feels like the same thing.
