Slow Grow 2026 Mantic Chaos (Kingdoms of men/Northern alliance?)

I couldnt decide what I wanted to do for the slow grow. I’ve been working on some non Mantic elves for a while but theyre not really suitable for this. So I dug up a lot of the random Mantic bits and bobs ive collected over the years.

What does this mess make? WHO KNOWS!! Is it Kingdoms of men? Yes! Is it Northern alliance? Might be if I paint up some abyssal dwarves instead of the halflings.. Will the Spearmen be being used as Elf Palace guard? Of course! Its mantic Chaos!!

Whatever it is or will become, It will get some models painted. I like individual basing so ill need to do about 6 models a week to keep pace with the slow grow. Unfortunately I currently have a battered hand… Rescuing my dog from a bad situation lead to messing it up and the day after I had a bad fall landing directly on it.. Its a brilliant start to an adventure in mini painting!

For me, this game does something that no other game does - it encourages me to use my imagination and build whatever I want and play it however I want. The way that unit lists are presented supports this - you can tell that it’s by design, i.e. here are some unit definitions and loose framework for armies, have fun and go wild.

I understand why they want to share their world’s lore, but too much lore kills it for me. It runs the imagination. Give me some pictures and loose descriptions, and let my imagination run wild.

I honestly wish that the online Army builder would allow the user to build mixed armies.

There is so much potential in this game for not only mixing fantasy armies but mixing in historicals as well. I think fantasy armies are much less interesting when they are homogenous. Every single army that I have planned is just a mix of fantasy races, historical humans, and wonderous monsters.

Looking forward to see what you come up with!

Since its a tabletop game you can always mix and match as you want. If your opponents happy with it you can do anything. In 3rd ed i moxed orcs and goblins together to make up an old style fantasy army.

I started to build the giant yesterday and its such a nice kit. Thinking of picking up a box of paladins ive got some men at arms on my desk but they take so long to paint. My own fault because i picked a complex paint scheme. But just metal and tunic doesnt work for me and those models deserve better.

Since its check in day heres whet Ive got done.

Sadly my hands are still sore and painting hasnt helped that. So the standard is lower than I would like. But I think you could put it in a table.

The hydra is a 3d print scaled up from Armada. I want to use it as an Elf flame breath or a cannon in humans. I should print a second.

The shields need decals but I cant find any that fit.

The dwarf is very unfinished. But would be playable..

Here is something else Ive been working on and a preview of next deadline.. maybe. Elf standard bearer and a bolt thrower. Lots of work to go on both of them.

Depending on how you slice it. Thats 400 to 500 points painted and playable.. Not to my standard but playable. Lord on frostfang, human infantry regiment and a bolt thrower or cavern dweller.

I have some Twilight kin with nets on my desk right niw. I have always intended to use them as naids so maybe they go with the giant and wizard.. would give a playable army at least.
