Undead Ambush - 750 points

Hi all!

I am new to Kings of War and would like to test the game with an Ambush force.

I have played several wargames in my career: Confrontation, Warhammer: Fantasy Battles, Warhammer 40k, Hordes, Warmachine, Warhammer: Age of Sigmar.

This is the list I came up while using the Mantic Companion app. It is my first attempt ever at writing an army list for KoW, so every suggestion is more than welcome!
Important: I am trying to use only miniatures that I actually own (which explains the lack of zombies in the list  ).

Hereā€™s the list:

1x Regiment of Skeleton Warriors (+ Undead Giant Rats)
1x Regiment of Skeleton Spearmen (+ Undead Giant Rats)
1x Troop of Soul Reavers Infantry (+ item Dwarven Ale)
1x Regiment of Wights
1x Necromancer (+ Surge)
1x Vampire Lord (+ Surge)

Total Units: 6
Total Unit Strength: 8

750/750 points.

Welcome to Kings of War!

I wouldnā€™t take Ambush games too seriously and that list looks good in any case.
If anything; Iā€™d say that a vampire is expensive for that point level, Iā€™d rather get something is Unit Strength.
Once you have a few games in then youā€™ll know what works for you, though.

Welcome to the forum!

I agree with @DarkBlack , Ambush is the KoW variant to test things out.
The Vampire really is sticking out. If models are available you can swap him out for another troop or regiment even. Large Infantry regiments are possible too, like Werewolves. You could also take a Goreblight which would give you quite the monster on Ambush level.
Ambush games are pretty small, battlefields too. So the lack if Surge should be no problem.
You could run the Skeleton warriors as Revenants and take a cheaper heroe/troop than the Vampire.
Soul Reavers and Wights are really good, keep them. A Necromancer is mandatory.
Take what you have, try it out, have fun and enjoy the greatness of KoW! (And maybe give some feedback on how it wentšŸ˜‰)

Hi and thanks for kind words, both of you!

Yes, this list is not suppose to be ā€œseriousā€, like something for a tournament game.
I just wanted to be sure that it was at least playable, if both of you think itā€™s a good army then I will test the game like this and apply some changes after

I will let you know how it went for sure, even with some photos  But I need to paint 4 Soul Reavers (minis used: GW Grave Guard), the Vampire Lord (D&D metal miniature) and 7 Skeleton Spearmen (GW Skeletons from WFB 8th edition era) before, as I really dislike playing with unpainted minis.

Once done, I will post a short battle rep with some photos.
Have a nice weekend, folks!
