2025 New Year's Resolutions

The year is almost over so what did i acomplish so far?

Finish my Basilea army including basing etc. At least enough to have a tournament ready army.

Well. 14 Knights and Gnaeus Sallustis (who got removed from the army wtf mantic!). Everything else is painted but not based yet. But i have prepared the bases.

My plan was to finish the last Models between Christmas and New Years eve. But 4th Edition completly destroyed my enthusiasm to finally finish this army. I am even considering to sell my basileans because the only legal army lists i can build now is boring a.f.

Wrapping up my Bretonnians for The Old World. That means rebasing the remaining models and finish painting what is not painted yet (20 kitbashed Foot Kights, 12 kitbashed Questing Knights, 1 Duke on Pegasus, 1 Paladin on Pegasus, 1 Metal Foot Knight, 6 Grail Knights from 5th Edition, 6 Pegasus Knights, 1 Duke on Hippo).

I did in fact paint most of the models i mentioned but i am far from finished with my bretonnians because i bought a lot of stuff as well  So this will be a partial success and i will transfer this to the 2026 goals.

Getting a Fire Fight force (Enforcers) and paint them like ADVENT Troops from XCOM 2

Got it and expanded it allready with the Cabot III Enforcers. 50% is painted, rest is on my painting table right now. I will finish them this year but decided to paint them like Blood Ravens instead of ADVENT.

Halflings… it is finally time to get started on my Halfling army. I have ca. 3k points filling up my pile of opportunities.

All Halflings are build and basecoatet. I painted 3 test models and they are looking really good. But painting is postponed for now thanks to 4th Edition. I am not enthusiastic to paint KoW right now but unlike my basileans i want to keep my Halflings. At least i can bild a half decent list in 4th with them. Well except for the 40 Wild Runners i build which are now completly useless.

Getting started on a second army for Conquest Last Argument of Kings (City States)

I almost got the models for the entire army but havent build anything yet due to other projects.

How did my 2025 go for hobby?
Mostly well, but moving for a job disruptived my hobby near the end of the year.

I did and won the tournament!
I didn’t get all my undead painted though, still 40 skeletons to go.

I have not. I could play one of the scenarios, but still need a bunch of heroes to get into a campaign.

I organised the project, but paint is yet to get on a viking.
I got a different 15mm historical army done though!
For a tournament that I can’t attend anymore. :smiling_face_with_tear:

I did! Twice

I’m sorry to hear that 4th edition demotivated you.
The shake up and big list building changes mean a lot of figuring things out again.

My goals were…

“I think next year i am going to make my hobby goals a little different. Instead of aiming to paint a particular army i am going to aim to engage more with the community. So goals are:

Attend small KoW event in January and hopefully a couple more later in the year

Get more involved locally (with restriction of job and kids meaning this is probably one thing a month!) Maybe including demoing firefight.

Get distracted by epic in march!

Help my daughter put together a forces of nature army (mainly 3d printing elementals!)

Support my son (who has done nearly 2300 of nightstalkers and a whole plague force for firefight)

Not highly ambitious but now i have a fully painted Ogre force and two firefight armies i can relax and dabble here and there.”

I think I did pretty much all of that. The FoN army is growing, epic I didn’t receive until the end of the year so was less distracting! Ran a firefight event and attended a KoW one. Supporting son is easy, he did a whole new Asterians army this year.

Minor correction, I had some time on New Year’s Eve and re-painted two viking banners.

  1. I painted 2,235 points. I stopped painting KOW after 4th was announced and painted two Epic Warpath factions, so I’ll count this one as close enough.
  2. I played 29 games. Not bad.
  3. Northwood GT and Northwoods melee (one-day).
  4. I averaged more than that, though had some lulls with work.

On the whole, my goals were realistic, and I’m happy about what I was able to do.

That’s pretty much what you were aiming for!
Thanks for the posts on http://dataanddice.com/.

Yeah, I can’t complain. I was looking back at the end of the year and have had six substantive role changes since mid-2022, so the ups and downs of work have taken up far more time than I anticipated. But still was able to paint a decent amount and feel in a good spot with things.
