Since there’s a lovely topic been bumped for 2025 resolutions, how about your 2026 Hobby resolutions?
Mine are to complete my new Goblin army… if it’s actually possible to complete a goblin army. I’d like to have it done with a cool volcano display board to take to the US Masters/Best of the Rest in July. Here’s hoping!
I am also going to stay off Facebook (apart from posting on the kowmasters site for new events etc) for the year! I’ve felt much healthier mentally since I quit and don’t intend to go back without a damn good reason.
Additional resolution: Make Clash of Kings UK even betterer than it was last year!
1 - paint up the already build AD stuff that i didn’t get round to last year.
2 - finish off some part completed corsairs which I’ve been studiously ignoring for 18 months as they are a pain in the a*se to paint - but unfortunately I now actually need them!
3 - get to some events. Real live and poor health curtailed that badly last year.
4 - add various bits to existing armies/rebase heroes to make them 4th compliant
5 - look to only start one new army - xirkaali once the initial hype has died off. Building ratkin ‘for’ the AD doesn’t count as a new army … regardless of how much actually gets built!
No, there’s always more goblins when you think you’re done. Not to mention the endless number of goblin minis that are so “characterful in a goblin way” that it’s so tempting to add it to your collection.
I don’t have goblins, but undead are giving me a similar problem.
Not only do I already have enough in the pile to fill several years of hobby time (at the rate I’m going anyway) , but I also moved to a new city recently. It’s probably wise to see which games I can find time and opponents for before investing more into anything.
I have ~1000 points of Asterians, been looking into Sci-Fi in 2025.
I have 40 skeletons and some odds and ends left after mostly painting undead in 2025.
To improve my existing terrain: I have a bunch of terrain kits that need building and painting for both Sci-Fi and Fantasy. Also some scratch-built and primed Sci-Fi terrain, made to fit 3" cubes. Plus a few bits for 15mm.
The Fantasy terrain roughly matches the basing of my dwarfs, which can be improved too while I’m at it.
I also have a bunch of spears from the skeleton sprues, with which to convert ironclad into 2 regiments of bulwarkers. Keeping my dwarfs 100% Mantic without having to deal with that bulwarker kit.
I’ve mentioned the same 15mm vikings on these threads for several years. I should really get to them.
My first post here so what could be better to start with a few resolutions for 2026?
Finishing my 10 mm Orc Army (2000 pts to start with). Only a few things missing, bigger blocks are 90 % gaming ready).
Finishing my 28 mm Orc Army (2000 pts as well). A bit more work to do, but still already some stuff ready to go.
Playing at least 15 games of KoW 4th edition. Given that I am a father of two smaller kids that’s a lot - but I do have a regular gaming evening every other tuesday so chances are it’ll work!
Staying away from facebook (like Steve is planning to do) because it’s just a time sink, it’s often quite toxic and it just keeps me away from painting or doing other important stuff.
Being an active member here on this nice forum It seems to be a nice place and having a “central place” for KOW lovers sounds lovely to me.
When I went all in on the Epic Kickstarter, i pledged to at least “paint something” the year it arrives. Barely made it with one unit, commander and transport squadron
I’ve got Forge Dads and GCPS from the kickstarter, of which I’ve at least started assembling. Ideally I’d like to get both armies painted, but I’ll settle for just one.
I painted a full army for these back in ‘24, but I want more! Partly it’s so I can bring it to 1500pts and try some different options in the list, but I’ve also been using them as mutants and cultists for my occasional games of 30k and 40k. Either way, I’m pretty keen to paint more of these great sculpts.
Because 12000 pts is clearly not enough. But seriously, there’s still a few units I’d like to add. I’m already in the process of painting two new Ironguard Regiments, and I still don’t have any painted Brocks. I’m also trying to work out some more tech-oriented proxies for units like Stoneclaws and those above-mentioned Brocks… ideally using mantic sculpts as a base.
I originally painted an Abyssal Army back in 2nd ed, but I didn’t like the yellow colour scheme I used, the basing was crap and the list itself just wasn’t any good. The Abyssal Guard & Ghouls are also no longer a thing, so it’s barely even playable. But the scuttlebutt is that Mantic are doing a KoW slow grow in February. Combined with finally having a scheme I like (pictured) and a planned list that actually might be fun, it’s time I had another crack at updating my demons!
Last year I got a far as painting most of the heroes, all the undead and some of the Goblins. This year I’d like to at least get those goblins finished, and maybe get though the Abyssal Dwarfs, if I’m lucky!
Aww man, all the Epic Warpath stuff really makes me wonder did I do the right thing in pulling the plug on my pledge. I was due to receive 3 factions and a smattering of extras and heavy units. But I ended up deciding that I didn’t need to start collecting another Mantic Game.
As it happens, I ended up deep-diving into Halo… But if I hadn’t pulled the plug on Epic Warpath I’d probably be knee-deep in half-painted minis right now.
