On the subject of the Alliance book…
We know the TK still have a neutral ground with the Elves and Sylvan kin. Wonder if an alliance of all the elf factions, in face of the Xirkaali, could be on the cards…

Sure, but the halfling component looks quite minor to me. It doesn’t seem to be why people Rhordia anyway.
Ophidia has had a lot of background throughout the mantic releases over time. Their army just sounds fun(!) and would give mantic another human range to play around with, using their own IP?
at least for me the combination of living and dead in a single faction that isn’t just Necromancer/Master/Beasts for the living is an interesting theme that is not much explored in general (outside of some Appendix Carstein lists back in old Warhammer days)
the main difference between EoD and Ophidia would be that the the Heroes and Elite would be living with the dead being the “cheap” core troops. Also of course a different style/theme compared to the ancient one would be possible and going more into the oriental part
New Counter Charge pod mentions someone being told abyssals may be in 2nd book.
Rhordia lost some its USP when KoM got access to beast cavalry - so shrine, organ guns and the dogs of war plus barons(!) are the main take options.
Halfling braves are cheap unlocks/bodies in a list that isn’t really crying out for them, while the archers are going to be even less useful now - although the cavalry is a solid choice.
Some discussion of cavalry in the latest Counter Charge that caught my attention. Sounds like they will usually have thunderous charge (3), and at least some will lose any crushing strength … The example in question was Abyssal Cavalry. They’ll need to not hit terrain to retain the thunderous charge, so in an interesting spot… Not necessarily better off than currently, I think.
Actually you guys should listen to the whole pod, if you haven’t already. The battalion system and changes to shooting were other notable elements discussed.
wasn’t aware that those information can already be shared, but Cavalry hitting much harder on the charge, in combination with now being able to avoid terrain much easier, is a welcome change, though without chrushing grinding is more difficult
New story out about orcs and Sylvan Kin! Makes it sound like new elves are in the works.
I don’t think I will ever come to terms with the fact that Orcs all seem to have to sound like rough londoners, whether in Mantic or GW. It’s the default everyone expects. Not saying I have a better idea, but…
Might be interesting if mantic start the elf refresh with some of the SK stuff - and would firmly embed then into pannithor, rather than still being a bit of a wood elf apologists list.
Well, wood elves lead by a powerful lady goes back to at least Tolkien.
Interesting that these have green skin and are called fae.
Anyone else surprised that the expansion books are the same price as the rulebook? And the Gamer’s Bundle’s price doesn’t seem to make sense.
both being hardcover for the pre-order not really a suprise
not expected them to be the same price, but also not expected the Invasion book to be hardcover either
that the new expansion book being more than the previous ones makes sense given the content and that it is valid for the whole edition and not just a year
They look like a more premium product. If the paper and art is good I will be ok with it.
We spend so much time talking and enjoying this hobby, I dont have a problem with a key book being the price of a Ambush box / slightly more.
If the price were dropped by a fiver people would still say its pricy anyway.
On to the next thing!
Xirkaali apparently have bad history with the Uraeus from Ophidia and still kill them on sight (see below).
Which implies they’re still around and likely to be part of an Ophidian release. Snake people confirmed?
Yeah, knocking £10 off for a free map gets it to the same price of both books anyway?
Hopefully the softback rules from the 2 player set becomes available separately (it did in 3rd, just took time). Likely a pdf version as well - possibly both with next wave of releases?
Invasion book pricing is probably going to be the standard going forward, which isn’t bad for 4 full armies plus background etc.
