Andreas' The Herd

Thanks

Yes its the Warcry minotaur, I wish all of GW’s offerings was at this level, easy to assemble and a joy to paint.

Love the unit - quality stuff

That ogroid looks great as do the boars. It all fits the flavour of the unit as well.

Is there anything you can do to mask the join on the boars’ backs? It only really shows on the rear photo, so not a big deal.

Thanks

I can probably green stuff on more fur to hide it, or shave down the plastic a bit. It might be hard fixing the paint job since this is mostly done with an airbrush.

Absolutely lovely! The theme and paint job really make this a showcase army.

Would love to face off against it

Wow – absolutely amazing.

I’m fairly new to KoW. Are GW’s beastmen line the best models to use for The Herd – at least for the most part?

I am probably the wrong person to ask since I really like the GW Beastman aesthetic

It’s probably the most complete line of miniatures that can be used for the Herd, there are other miniatures that can be used. I have Mierce and TTCombat in my army to supplement the GW miniatures I had from 15 years ago and the Earth Elementals are 3D printed.

I would suggest going with the miniatures you like, after all it’s you that have to paint and play with the miniatures

It depends on what you want to include in your Herd army.

Personally, I would recommend old Rackham wolfen for the lycans if you can get them from somewhere (e.g. ebay). The Mantic centaurs are also fine and there are many options for tree and elemental models by different producers.

Otherwise, the GW beastmen are really good for regular infantry and some monsters.

Lovely looking army.

Going 3rd party for models, Wargames Atlantic have fauns & centaurs, while Frostgrave gnolls are a nice choice for units with a bit of individuality

My Herd force is Hyena themed, so Gnolls from Northstar miniatures and the D&D ones, plus GW wild Wargs.

However it must be said that the GW Beastmen do offer the best range to date.

Are those Werewolves fromt the Privateer Press Hordes Range? Simply wonderful.
Love the trees too, magnificient workl. keep posting.
