Not really a fan so far. The armour doesn’t feel orcy enough and the steed has a touch of AoS weirdness about it. Just a bit too far from traditional orcs. If it’s just the one guy, it might be okay.
I wonder if Mantic is using the Rift-Forged to test the waters on some different aesthetics?

From a couple of bits of artwork you can see the basis for some of the comments “stormcast orc-ternal” etc.
I’m more intrigued by the rules, rather than the models, as while I might get mantic stuff I’m never doing a full army that way

Too 80’s cartoon for me. Looks like something from He-Man.
Will hold fire on the aesthetic though until I see the miniatures - a lot of Mantic art leaves me cold while the corrisponding miniatures are good. And even if I hate them somebody else is sure to fall I love.
AoS aka Warcraft aka 80’s cartoon style leaves me cold. Hope Mantic avoid that ‘look’ like the plague.

the Lion in the Art looks good
that the Orc is off could just be the artwork as well as the drawing looks more like a concept
that those are going to be the direct opposite of the recent GW Orcs for AoS might be good, but depends on the models and not the art
for now I am looking forward to this, as nearly all the latest models turned out well so far

Actually, I loved that particular model. Just remove the shoulder pads and do a headswap and the model is very good.
Though I hate the stormcast aestetic, with a few modifications they work well for large infantry basileans.. Just get rid of those stupid masks. And get them off ebay, no one is going to pay these kind of prices for a single model!
As for the riftforged, I’m still curious. Recent Mantic models are quite good so even if I;m not gonna do the orks, the models will probably hit my painting table sometime.
I mean, a heavy armoured dude on a badass beast can fit any army with a head swap! if the model in the concept art translates 1-on-1 into a (large) cavalry model its just one headswap away from being a wonderful honour guard!

I’d be less reticent if they were all cyclopses or another unique faction, it’s the fact they’re orcs.
Having something completely different seems better than having “vanilla” orcs and Rift-forged Super Clads both existing in the same world.

My suspicion, and I may well be wrong, is that Mantic is trying out a more specific/unique IP, rather than working with fantasy archetypes.

I’m not really thrilled with Riftforge Orcs. The lore feels like a re-imagining of Vanilla Orcs but with that late 80’s/early 90’s “X-TREME” aesthetic. I do see a lot of comparison’s to AoS Stormcast Eternals and Warcraft (more specifically WoW).

I’d be totally fine if these Primaris Orcs became Mantic’s mainline orcs (as I suspect they might in due course thanks to IP reasons…) in due course

I wrote it before on this forum. I really like the ‘low fantasy’ vibe from Mantic. I really like their Undead, Orcs and Elves. They have a cosy classic feel about them.
Ratkin are a bit more industrial, still love them.
These Orcs? I don’t know. Maybe with a more subtle paintjob

That’s what I fear will happen. What will happen for those of us that want to use other brand of miniatures? Could I use GW Black Orcs as Riftforged Orcs? A few questions run through my mind after reading the article.
Mantic only have a very few limitations on using their own models - either for painting awards at events they sponsor or big prizes (so flight/entry to US event for highest placed 90% mantic army in UK Clash)
