Cyberactivity's Twilight Kin: The Shadow Blades

Congrats on your triumph, that’s quite a push but you smashed it. Plus all the minis look great

Thank you all for the kind words and words or encouragement.

I’ve finished my first project of the year, some basing bits:

These are from AlienLab miniatures.

Have to find another project to add to my desk now. Think I’ll try and have 2 projects on the go at the same time so I can chop and change between the two.

I’m loving those AlienLab scenery pieces.

So tournament coming up this weekend.

One day event. First Big Red Book event.

So taking a bit of a different list to normal:

5 units and the finger of fate seeing the table for the first time. Probably won’t win anything but at least I’m getting a chance to have a few games and field some new units.

Well, another tournament has come and gone…

…and another event I was ill so couldn’t attend. Not the best start of the year.

However, have managed to finish the third and final terror:

So 250pts painted this year so far.

Think my goal is about 3k pts. Yes less than a third of what I did last year, but last year was crazy productive.

shame you couldn’t go, more people need to see that army on a table. I’m incredibly jealous and also very lazy so that may explain my jealousy.

Do you have an end goal for the Stalkers and are you planning any other forces? Twiglets are due at the end of the year after all.

As i’ve said before, that army is amazing, trez cool. Likewise, i had hoped to nip up to my local gaming event this Sunday evening, but bad weather and struggling to shake off a bug i’ve had since my most recent batch of booster jabs got in the way. Get well soon.

Cheers for the kind words.

I’ve got 3 regiments of shadowhounds, 3 regiments of fiends, and a horde of fiends to do before I’ve got literally all options except spectres (might do a couple troops and a regiment or two).

Then that will be it for the NS (will equal about 13.5k pts or so if my mental maths is right).

I’ve then got a load of elves to paint. Will be good to see the direction they go with Twilight Kin, as that army has been put on the back burner until they release the update.

Hope you feel better soon too.

It was just a head cold/congestion, but I’m not willing to risk other people’s health to play. It really upset me to miss the event but think it was the right call.

I’d be the same. Whatever mine was, it appears to be over and done… maybe a mild flu after recently getting both flu and covid boosters. Whatever it was, its best not to share.

Sorry for the bad pictures…

3 regiments of shadowhounds done.

That is an extra 570pts painted so far this year bringing up the total to 820pts (terror + these).

The flyers are horror heads, reaper arms, and gargoyle bodies/wings.

Those look amazing!
The flyers great conversions and add some variety to the unit of cool but monopose models.

Cheers. It gave me a reason to use up the spare 3 horror heads that I had. Also acts as a good reminder that they are now speed 10 and are nimble.

It’s been a while since I’ve updated here.

Been working on a lot of fiends (12 models - 1 horde and 4 regiments). Taking more time than wanted, but taking it one step at a time.

Managed to get in a game Vs Mark Cunningham and his Ratkin Slaves list (Top UK Ratkin Slaves player and took them to Masters).

This was my army. I’d written this for the tournament I didn’t attend at the start of the year. Didn’t want to write a new list to specifically combat Marks. He was practicing for a tournament so we tried out one of the scenarios.

It was a close run game. Came down to the last dice roll to determine the winner. If it ended turn 6 I win, if we had turn 7 Mark would have won. Luckily no turn 7 so I won by a single scenario point.

It was good to finally get a game in after such a long time. I’d forgotten a few things and not using the withdraw rule took a bit to get my head around.

Got a tournament in May, and think I’ve got my list ready for…

…just need to sort the special character out for it.

Hopefully I’ll finish the fiends in the next few days. Trying to motivate myself has been challenging, so any advice about keeping/gaining motivation would be good to hear.

That’s a stunning collection, looking forward to seeing your take on fiends.

Let me know how you get on with 2 void lurkers?
I never seem to get their points worth from dragon-type units.

On painting/modelling motivation, three things usually work for me:

  • Mixing it up (i.e. “palate cleansers”).
I’m painting 15mm Romans at the moment and there are a lot of the little guys that are being painted in a similar eay, painting something Sci-Fi or Fantasy between each unit type helps break it up.

  • Consuming media.
I definitely feel like painting nightstalkers after watching something like Stranger Things or A Quiet Place.

  • Playing games. A good game gets me excited for the hobby in general.

All that said sometimes you just need a break.
Painting helps me unwind, but sometimes I need something else to relax.

Love the colour scheme, the contrasts and the nice splashes of colour is amazing. Makes them proper creepy and ehtereal!

I have multiple different things on the go - different armies etc, some stuff in build phase rather than painting etc

1 horde and 4 regiments of fiends (can be put together to be up to 3 hordes).

Just need to varnish them and they’re done.

This will take total painted Nightstalkers through the 13k pts mark.

Means that will only have spectres to go to have multiples of every unit in the list (well, until they release the shooting butchers).

735pts extra makes 1555pts total painted this year.
