I hear there will be a reaper variant too.
I am not sure the we need new units, more is better I guess.
You might want to hold off on the spectres; the new boxes have the scarecrow sprue listed as scarecrows/doppelgangers, so spectres might be getting dropped.
This just leaves me with a dreadfiend model and some Scarecrow/Spectres.
If they are getting rid of spectres don’t want to waste time in making them. I don’t need any more scarecrows really either. So I’m a bit lost on what to do.
The Dreadfiend model is the official Mantic one. Might build and paint it just so I’ve got one to use if I need to field an army with more Mantic models in it as although a lot of my army is Mantic, a good amount of the choices are non-Mantic models.
Also can make some more soulflayers if I’m able to find some suitable heads…
I’ve got 3 snow troll primes on my desk at the moment that I’m working on, but don’t really have any enthusiasm for them:
I can’t see them getting rid of Spectres, if you have them and want to make them then go for it. They specifically removed twiglets so people wouldn’t build an army that couldn’t be fielded, but Nightstalkers are still very much on the app.
Since you can use whatever you want even if they rename the minis to doppelgangers that’s not stopping you from using them as is for Spectres
I’d be surprised if Mantic flat-out removed spectres from the list. Then again, the recent NS release wave has been a bit odd anyway, all things considered.
In any case, short of any announcement from Mantic I think you should definitely paint the spectres. I know it’d drive me nuts, knowing that it’s the only unit i don’t have for the army.
i can see why, @Cyberactivity . I was tempted to paint my Goblin Kuzlo and Madfall in a similar shade, but in the end went for a lighter green instead. (only because the Mantic one was the yellow version.
The Toad Dragon is looking great so far, though i can see that tail getting in the way unless you raise the whole model when you base him. Of course, that assumes you’re planning to use him in games!
So last month I asked the question on the Fanatics Facebook page if anyone had a big model in their pile of shame that they were too scared to attempt. The idea being that you slay the grey and be brave and get it painted
After some discussion I settled on the Toad Dragon. It’s taken me the whole month to get it painted. But it’s done.
It’s a massive model, probably the biggest I’ve ever painted. It’s been a hard slog but I’m proud of what I’ve achieved.
Hopefully I inspired others to finally get that model painted they’ve been putting off for years (over a decade in my case).
