many thanks @Rusty_shackleford
Not sure if I should post It as I already did in Trident realm post… Amyway. Trident King. I Hope to take pictures of my 3 naiad units I did recently.
That’s a great Trident King. You brought those kits together nicely.
I still have a couple of days left for December Dreams.
The next units I’m working on are Two Elephants, and at the same time, my final twenty Imperial Roman Legionnaires. A slight problem that the base size for Elephants/Mammoth in Kings of War: (Kingdom of Men, ) is a single model of 50mm * 100mm, whereas Hail Caesar is 80*80mm. Thankfully, there are two in the Victrix African Elephant, so I did one of each size.
Two African Elephants, one each for Hail Caesar and Kings of War base sizes. I tried a couple of different skin colours: dusky sand like brown as if just out of a dust bath, them a light pink dry brush to emphasize the wrinkles, (Basically, Elephants are just a bag of wrinkles with tusks) and then tried a blue dry brush to bring out the colour. I may need a second wash to dull down the blue. Opinions welcome . Up close the blue is dominant but on a battlefield view, I think they look good.
Also considering whether or not to buy the Victrix decals for the unit. They are far too complex for me to paint myself.
Final bits finished for 2022 - which takes it to the round 10k
Kingdoms of Men 3610
Brothermark 2130
Riftforged Orcs 1725
Basilea 1200
League of Rhordia 690
Order of the Green Lady 400
Goblins 245
Looking great @Sceleris
After considering, I decided that the blue woad effect wasn’t going to work. In a Kings of War game, it could, but in an historical game, not so much. So I went for a light painting of Rakarth Flesh citadel base coat, followed by Army Painter Dark Shade. I still have to finish off the infantry troops that go with the Elephants, which need some metallic steel for their armour and weapons and final touch ups on the ropes on the Elephants, but it’s pretty much finished before the bell struck midnight, so I’ve included in December’s tasks and goals achieved.
I did also finish off my last 20 Imperial Roman Legionnaires unit, although I only had enough of the big square shields for a unit of 18, so I converted the other two into Praetorians.
Your colours pop amazingly. Beautiful work.
Wow, loving those @MiSi0, especially the flying carpet
I dig the legionaries.
Just the right amount of grim and gritty.
Many thanks @DarkBlack
Thanks! I sometimes try more desatursted colours and I end with something like this.
Thanks. The idea was to make It pop more. And I was testing new colours. Orange and eteric green.
With the final few Numidian javalin Skirmishers and Roman Auxiliary Javelin throwers that are protected the two Elephants, that completes the Imperial Roman Legion:
I’ll post the full list on my dedicated Roman post
Well December is over but erhm … looks like my “December Dream” doesn’t have wings yet … well at least not painted ones.
Did some work on the tail and claws and am quite happy with the results … maybe January will bring a wing or two … if I can keep it out of the hands of my little one, who s been eyeing the Dragon with more and more interest as painting progresses …
I also didn’t quite make the December 31st cutoff but I’m pretty stoked to be done all the same. One of my favourite units that I’ve made so far. I’ve been looking for a spot for my Noble on Great Stag for a very long time and in the end it took a conversion and slotting him into a unit (which I never really figured I would do) for him to hit the table.
