The scratch built chariot blends nicely into the rest of the horde. Two more chariots to make over the coming days, but I might put a hold on them to finish my last sprues of Imperial Roman Legionnaires

Considering your vast hordes of amazing celts and romans, I hope you can organize a megagame or something. It would need a bigger table though!

Thank you very much. I’m glad you like them both. . I’m having fun building them, but i will have to start learning the new rule changes for both the new KoW and Hail Caesar rules, which are coming out soon.
To answer your very good question @Muakhah . Certainly, Hail Caesar game rules are designed for bigger games, but there certainty isnt room on my gaming table for such. I’ve yet to see how the new KoW rules book deals with such. I bought a copy of the big red book when i went gaming a few weeks back but only got 2 of 1000 point skirmishes in on the day. We will have to wait and see. Most of my armies are 3500 points plus, but that gives me a good variety of options when i build an army list rather than fielding them all at once.

Those chariots look awesome Nav! They look exceptionally good going over that bridge.

Many thanks. One of the advantages of these two armies being dual purpose is that the Hail Caesar rules gives them more flexibility in formations. Units can go in single or double file along roads or reform into a charging wedge … to name but a few. And, i can use scenery pieces, such as my two bridges, to give realistic props for photography.
In KoW terms, i have less options but i can set them up as troop regiment horde or legion if the rules allow, but it still gives me some interesting options, in particular for my Celts.

Painting a custom built Goreblight. The torso+head bit is not mantic but legs and all other bits are mantic.

Finally got something done again

I can be hot or cold on Mantic miniatures but I love these fellas.

I love your paint job. I should also have went four per base as you did - full model count is too crowded.

Weird and wonderful, I dig it.

if someone asked me for my thought about the Mantic Dwarfs, my answer wouldn’t be good. In particular, i’m not a fan of the saucepan helmets.

Yet despite this, the Broc Riders would be amongst my top three units oveerall. I love them.
Now granted, the two regiments i have of them are not perfect as it took a while to figure out what goes where saddle wise. (i had similar problems with the Goblin riders too. )

i’m loving the pale aneamic skin tones and blue hair, they look welll together
Bravo.

Thank you. I am happy with the result but I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

It was a pain to built and even worse to remove mold lines. And their are still plenty which I missed or I just gave up after a while.

Shouldnā€˜t have built 20 at the same time

Last of the finished stuff before Christmas.

A belated birthday present was sitting by my front door, getting soggy in the rain. (Thanks a million UPS… It’s those little things that indicate the level of quality and attention to detail that bring a warm glow to my belly, or heart burn.)
That aside, I am tickled pink. I’ve wanted this particular model for a long time, but just haven’t been brave enough to spend €65 on a model that I don’t have an army to use it in, but i’m confident that it’ll find its place. The Model is a GW Lord of the Rings Radagast the Brown, in which you get not one, but 3 Radagasts, one on foot (to add to my growing bunch of shabby looking druids that would instantly light up the Community Watch phone tree if spotted outside a school. ) One, for flying a giant eagle, (that doesn’t come with it, but in have two of those already,) and the best one is no. 3 Radagast riding on a sleigh pulled by 12 flying rabbits.
In Kings of War terms, it could be used for my Mythological Celtic Herd army i could use the one on the eagle as Avatar of the Father, or in Kingdom of Men it could be a Wizard on a peguaus, ( i just spotted the General on Winged Beast, but oddly it doesn’t have the keyword Fly (i presume that is an error.) or Northern Alliance Lord on Frostfang maybe? Are there any others? in case you don’t know the model, it looks like this.

generally, i don’t buy GW stuff, but the LOTR stuff tends to be better value for money

The Radagast miniature parts are currently soaking overnight as it’s made of resin, so, in the meantime, i’m converting the last 2 chariots into one four horse, 'Ben Hur ’ Quadriga type one, which may slide over the Historical vehicle for the run of the mill Celtic barbarian, but i do love a good bit of modification/scratch building.

Here’s how i’m getting along. Those reins were a nightmare to fix on, and in the end i had to just leave it overnight too, so that the glue would set fully before adding more reins to attach from the bits to the 'saddle. For anyone who knows anything about driving with horses, yes i know that there should only be one 'shaft pole ’ ideally, and a double swingle tree behind the horses back legs to stop the breast harness chaffing the horses as it pulled back and forth when each horse moves, but given that Victrix didn’t include swingle trees in their two horse version, i’m letting that bit of realism slide. Historically, i gather that 4 horse celtic chariots were only used for haulage, and certainly, two horse chariots were as fast if not faster, ( speed is not based on the fasted horse in the team, but rather the slowest. )and a two horse team was more manoeverable on a battllefield.

A fun project which certainly could historically be possible at one point or another, before common sense took stock of the practicallities. Still, human beings being what they are, some idiot was bound to want to build one so he could show off to his mates and impress the girls… great plan until someone overtakes him or he busts an axle, and has to hide his blushing face away from the girls’ laughter.

Taking advantage of no Boxing Day family get together to crack on with my Windborne.
Picked up a new stippling brush last week and I’m pretty stoked with how well it helps to simulate natural horse hair.

Not quite done this mini. It’s mostly an old Wood Elf Gladerider but the head is pulled off a Circle of Orboros Tharn model.

This unit puts me at around 2300 pts painted in 2022!
