A chariot mount for the general does seem to be missing from the kingdoms of men list, which is generally extremely flexible. Would allow the use of ancient Egyptian and Assyrian KoM lists!

As a LoR player who is looking g forward to the halfling list hopefully giving me back some of my cool units I had an idea the other day.
Halfling dog handlers.
Unit would be regiment sized but the dogs and handlers based on separate troop size bases with the dogs in front. Dogs would have a charge distance 9-10. Once unleashed the dog troop would charge the designated enemy unit. If they manage to kill the enemy unit then without the guidance of the handlers the dogs simply attack the nearest enemy in the most direct way possible. Handlers then act as a very poor chaff unit.
This may be a bit complicated but I thought it would be an interesting idea.
The far more simple version of this and far more boring would be the unit gets multiple throwing mastiff style attacks.
