Hadn’t actually noticed the NS units points drops when initially looking, so thanks for flagging.
Note that for the TK Mindscreech the planar apparition upgrade (the RoL/heal version) is [1] only

That is unfortunate.
I was hoping that I would be able to get a few Twilight Kin and add them to my nightstalkers for to make a cronebound keyword focused list that gives me a new play experience for the cost of half an army.
Not to be unless I run lots of reapers, which I don’t have.
Oh well. Feels like a missed opportunity to tempt nightstalker players.
On that note. The summoner crone is just a spell caster.
I sort of assumed there would be some keyword synergy going on there.
Yeah - more a case of adding NS units to a new TK list than being able to do it the other way round.
Navigator gets all the fun synergies, so think 2 is almost mandatory?
Getting a new army is significantly more daunting.
Sounds like a good idea.
If the unlocks are available and the list leans into one of the keywords enough.
Only the goredrake doesn’t have one of the 3 keywords affected by the navigator and quite a number have two (Mikey has all 3!) and one on a voidskift with the horn is a nice big bubble!
The titans are all US2, which I’d assume is going to be the same for all armies post Clash book
Well spotted!
I missed that.
My first impressions are that the army will function dramatically different from what it used to, and also quite different from other elf lists.
Average speed is pretty good, but I think will be slower than most elf armies.
Unit that really stands out to me is the mutants - basically our new “totally not cavalry” unit. Speed 7 with wild charge d3 means their threat range is comparable to most cavalry, they have TC2 and built in strider - what is not to like?!
In terms of roles they seem to overlap with reapers in my mind, though once you start thinking of the keyword synergies one can see the mutants are more a shock unit and the reapers a bit more grindy?
I’m not sure what to make of the summoner crones yet. I’m going to miss drain life. Though the new weakness + miasma should combo very nicely with those bloodhex upgrades - doing a bit of chip damage and making yourself effectively def 6 for one round sounds spicy.
I see their weakness spell as a lightning bolt 4 with some added spice. Also note that I don’t think weakness is affected by stealthy or cover, so a more accurate LB then. (just correct me if I’m wrong here).
Kinda interesting that we can basically use her as a “standard bearer” or cheap inspire option if you don’t buy her spells - could be nice if you need more inspire and strapped for points.
I see the assassin stole the soulbane’s dread. I’m fine with that - I always liked the assassin, and now I think I’ll be taking one in most lists.
I really like all the small upgrade options across the list!
I really like the captain - I rarely take combat-focused individuals, but she seems pretty solid.
I like that the characters riding void skiffs get the broadside shooting - I think it will be more value on them then on the whole unit.
Not sure how I feel about the skiffs (unit) yet. Will have to experiment with them a bit.
Same with the wranglers - interesting idea, but them being only range 6" seems like a very situational good. Seems like a unit that fills the hole where a semi-decent shambling combat unit would normally fill.
Overall a very interesting list - they definitely now have a very strong identity on the table which is great. So I’m excited to try them out!
Also a small thing to note, I see just about all our individuals are Heavy infantry bases (except the assassin).
Annoying to rebase, but I like it for customization and scenic bases. I have a feeling this is going to be the norm in upcoming Clash
I think the heavy infantry may be similar to the haflings and those models will be coming from Dungeon Saga Origins
Navigator: Her skirt is large enough to support her to present the illusion of slight on the model, so the base is wider to accommodate that.
Summoner Crone: This is so people can easily use DSO or League of Infamy models.
Void Captain: Sometimes you just want a big fancy base.
haha, look I’m not complaining, I’m 100% happy with the void captian’s argument
To note from the discussion in the video:
-The void touched have waver values 3 less than rout, so more glass hammer/susceptible to counter shooting.
-Mutants have cavalry stats and base size, but strider and not affected by phalanx.
-Magic based shooting makes the Twilight Kin a little better against nightstalkers, which is thematic.
Worse against halflings though.
-Summoner crone doesn’t come with any spells. It’s all pick your own.
This will be the new norm for wizards.
Article about the new Clash of Kings update is up.
It has this cover:
CoK 2024 will have the Twilight Kin lore and list in print.
The article also has this army photo:
Nothing to do with the models or rules but I just want to say I really dig the bits of lore they gave them.
I like that their overall goal isn’t evil, save their lost kin stuck in the Void and fix the world back to how it was before the Shattering of the Fenulian Mirror, it is of course the methods that are the problem.
I do wonder what the exact goal is, try time travel (I really hope this isn’t it since time travel is just one of those cans of worms that can get really messy) to prevent it?
Undo the effects currently and forcefully merge the Shining and Wicked ones back to Celestials so they can start fixing everything?
Either way their goal funnily enough give them something (at least maybe in their mind) of an excuse to wave away every evil thing they do.
Timetravel: well if that works all the evil things they did will never have happened to begin with.
Fix the world now: they may just view themselves as martyrs and everybody else in the wrong since all the Evil the Wicked ones unleashed will be undone due to the TK.
Either way it is an interesting direction for a Evil faction.
Well, so far do good.
They are very different to regular elves and I think not easy to play but at the same time get more tools for combined arms which I like.
tricky now, as I meant to get them for my wife yet not sure if she will like that combined arms approach
Yeah - i need sit down and have a proper look at the list - see exact what gets which of the useful keywords (the 3 for the navigator plus corsair) and how to possibly build a list.
Rather than simply going - ooh, infantry with a LB upgrade and all the swanky stuff!
Twilight Kin have been in a tournament!
Kyke Prezelinsky took them to Michigan GT.
With that we can consider Twilight Kin properly released, which concludes the purpose of this forum topic.
It’s been fun and interesting to track the journey, thanks for coming along.
One final thing before the TK models come out - some tester models that Mantic sent out to some of the epic community painters.
These really give an idea of what the models are like, compared to the images on the mantic website.
