Twilight Kin teases and hints

my only negative point is the placement of the heroes
as combining a mega army with the 2 player gets you the same heroes, which you get 3 times with the hero set

not sure of this comes in handy later but it feels bad if having that hero that often

TK ships from the Vault (without masts etc) is an obvious route as could scaled appropriately?

The promised design video about the core infantry is up.

Lots of concept art and renders that I will share below .

Interesting points:
Corsairs are all female for practicality.
It was hard to have interchangeable parts for male and female sculpts.

Void touched are meant to fill the roleof cavalry.
Fast and dangerous, plus heavy infantry so on a cavalry vase.

Voud touched have a ranged alternate build with magical ranged attacks.
My guess would be that they’ll be similar to flame bearers.

Do you like concept art? Renders of digital sculpts?
Well, here we go.

Concept art for corsairs, male corsairs were dropped in favour of more interchangeable kits.

Kyke talked about elves having different proportions to humans, here’s an illustration of the difference:

Some more news!

There’s a lore overview article out.
Reminiscent of Drow.

Includes a map:

There’s also a new design diary out.
The last one, but a series of rules videos are next

The video is about the navigator and Mikayel.

The navigator appearss to be an elf that’s becoming an ethereal nighstalker, similar to a banshee.
Rules are a variety of auras for a variety of keywords.

Concept art:

Render:

Mikayel has been around since first edition, apparently.
Significant story character who’s up to something mysterious and sinister.

There’s also a buch of painted mini shots that look great and you may have seen before.
Hard to capture witb screenshots though, so I’ll leave you with a reason to watch video.

Quick query on how the army now fits with existing ones (which may have been covered in a pod etc that I’d missed)?

The previous TK list was a theme list from elves. This clearly isn’t going to be the case now, but is it/will it be a theme list from NS, since they share a number of units, or a standalone army?

Not sure, I don’t recall it being mentioned.

I would be surprised if TK remain a theme list though.
There are several not theme armies that share units already (usually elementals), so not a reason to expect a theme list IMO.

Yeah, possibly.

I mean RFO are a theme list in name only, with barely any connection between them and the regular orcs (with only six units directly taken from the ‘master’ list)

TK is its own list. It is not a theme.

Inspire self on assassin type characters is something I’ve asked for, great to see it implemented. Definitively going to run with one. (I’d like to take more, but doubt unlocks will allow it XD)

Thanks for posting @Sceleris!

There’s also a model reveal for the Twilight Assassin; which will be Vault exclusive.

The new Twilight Kin list is on the Mantic Companion.

For nightstalker players, there are “bound” nightstalker units; which mostly means they’re 5 points cheaper and lose mindthirst.
Exceptions that I noticed are reapers (not irregular!) and the mind screetch is the same cost without mindthirst.

These include:
Bound Reapers
Bound Phantoms*
Bound Butchers*
Bound Ravagers*
Bound Soulflayers*
Bound Mind Screetch
Bound Terror
Butcher Fleshripper
Bound Voudlurker

For those without easy access to the Companion, here are the unit entries.

Few initial thoughts:

So corsairs are infantry; reapers are infantry; but wranglers (corsairs herding reapers) are heavy infantry - which just from an model building perspective is a pain since you can’t just put a troop of one in front of the other without using a conversion base.

Thank you for limiting LB weavers to 3 units! Still means the list can pack LB45 at 2300pts (without allies - and you can ally NS in!)

Goredrake is pretty reliable - 7 attacks on 3+ and can reroll 3 misses!

Voidwalkers possibly get to 23/25 with Phalanx and one turn de5 could be hard to shift.

Plenty of pretty aggressive, but quite squishy units.

Nowhere near an alpha strike list, but one that is pretty quick all across the board

An inspiring void lurker and terrors with LL2 and regen 4+ could be fun
