KoW in 2024

Ive heard a comment on podcast that they want to move away from themed lists and the flavours will be within the master list. that ties in with a video that i cant find now.

Might be kow version 4 thing?
Fluff back in books and master lists only with variety through the lists.
Is that how people see the latest revamps of twilight, northern all etc? Variety to theme using synergies within those or just people cherry picking units.

Depends what we see as theme and flavour

Theme list originated from KoW Historical were you got 1 master list and the specific units of the different factions, so you don’t need to “re-print” the same basic unit 10 times

Hence if the difference between 2 factions is which units are irregular and if they have different hero choice this is a theme and not necessarily “flavour” missing from the main list, but also not worth to make a full stand alone faction.

That there are certain synergies with units to have several flavours/builds is not something new, and something that developed over 2nd Edition.

That every army should have 2-3 themes they follow with certain synergies in units does not necessarily means replacing the theme lists, like Brothermark being a theme list with certain flavour Basilea won’t have but itself also has different flavours depending on how you build it

I wish the coral giant looked more like the design

Maybe it’s just me, but I find the coral giant model very unreadable. I like the rest of the line.

Just don’t know whether its the paint job, but it does look a little off for me?

Do like the frog people and big frogs…

There is still a bit of contrast between the coral/crab ocean vibe and the froggy lot - but can sort of see it working together.

When i do a TR army it’s going to be more swampy than ocean, so these new plastics definitely work.

Slight titbit of info about the upcoming FoA revamp from Ronnie in an FB exchange.

The post was querying whether the lower abyssals and/or succubi models would be redone:

“the plastics will stay in the range, and new plastics will either be entirely new kits or replacing metal/pvc/resin”

So, the current Ambush box will remain as is, or - at least - the sprues it contains will continue.

Useful to know because even thought people have been saying that would be the case, I wasn’t certain.

Id expect the Ambush set to include the new stuff, but the existing plastics will stay

I guess refreshing the Ambush box and including some of whatever the new range is might attract extra interest, but on the other hand, if the contents of the current Ambush box are going to remain unchanged, there wouldn’t definitely be a need.

Whereas the Army box and Mega Box could need a definite rejig if there are changes there to some of the units.

I just saw this in the Vault:

What do you think is it, that we’ll see in October? Kingdoms of Men? Bandits? Creatures of the Forest of Galahir?

Abyssals after the Clash announcement of the army revamp?

Won’t be anything human and unlike the sci-fi skirmish stuff nothing will go straight to stl

  • Abyssal Nagarri, regiment but going of the price may have resin parts.
  • Lord of Lies, obviously a Character but going of the price may be quite big.

From the lore, “The Lord of Lies” would refer to Oskan.
The leader and first wicked one, on par with the Green Lady.
A lord of lies is presumably his representative, so a powerful abyssal character.

Right, I wasn’t certain since I though the Abyssal Dwarves referred to him as the ‘Father of Lies’.
So I wasn’t sure if this referred to Oskan or a demon serving him.
As you say the Lord of Lies could his representative but what do you think of the possibility that it could be a manifestation of Oskan in the same way as Ba’el has one.
If it is the later, that can have some concerning implications for the forces of Good in the story and lore department.

I really hope it’s just an manifestation or special demon of some sorts. If it’s the actual Wicked One, we’re getring dangerously close to uber characters as in Herohammer.

I wasn’t being that specific.
Something along those lines.

If there’s a model being produced then I doubt it will be a legendary/ [1] unit though.

It won’t be - as mentioned above mantic don’t do big one-off models or really OTT LL characters.

Price point dependent might be Ba’el and alternate, or LL archfiend as redo of the existing kit?

I know that they don’t do it atm. But sometimes it takes (baby-)steps in the wrong direction. Overall I trust Mantic enough to not blow it. So I’m excited for the new releases.

At first I thought the FoA models were a bit ‘cheesy’, but then I got my Vanguard Kickstarter including the Abyssal warband. Since then I really like the demonic range.

I hope the old Archfiend won’t get exchanged completly. I like the model and might start a FoA army one day. Maybe one day sooner when the new releases are coming out now.
