all the armies are getting at least one more plastic box, so it could even mean dwarf cavalry assuming they don’t go another way
Just got two regiments of Brock riders - not much choice in the field at the minute for dwarf cavalry.
I’ve a bit of a love/hate thing with some Mantic kits - cavalry mainly. My Mantic Elf and Undead Heavy cavalry when finished I was very happy about and painting them was fun but the builds weren’t exactly pleasant. Plenty of bending, hot water and gap filling. Hoping the Brocks are different.
prepare to revisit your past
I’ll have the hot water ready!
I share your pain. I have 20 more Revenant Cavalry to assemble, need to fire up the immersion for that job
Regarding the Oathmark Elf kits, I went a bit mad for them, think I have 4 boxes of each, so 240 Elves
I’m so happy my rev cav are all metal
I completed one light and two armoured boxes. Will complete another armoured at some stage as a bow horde to complete the sword- spear - bow horde core of my Elf army.
I used the light box for two regiments of glade guard (?) - one bow - one sword.
Eight boxes is a lot… Even full model count will give you twelve regiments. Would look the bomb on a table though.
Fun kits. Lots of options and they mix well together.
The elf ones also kitbash really nicely with the fireforge templar ranges - so give you some heavier infantry and light & regular cav
Banners are nice. Did you put the tinfoil between the paper?
Print out image - use high quality if supported, cut out the banner and then back that with tinfoil.
Whole lot then folds over the flag pole at the midpoint and you are gluing tinfoil to tinfoil backing. You can shape the flag, add filler for gaps and retouch as necessary - also varnish and the flag will hold up grand.
Will photo the next batch.
It is an old historical mini banner process to add strength and allow shaping to paper flags.
Thanks! Not easy to find high res banners for Sylvan Kin or Undead though. I’ll definitely try that.
Plan is to mix up the kits here and there. Using any spare spear arms from the Infantry on the light infantry kit for some Forest Guard.
Also seen a nice way to sculpt on heavier armour on the Infantry kit, so might run them with sword and shield as Shield Watch.
@Sceleris good to know… just means I can justify buying more plastic!
I’m loving the dwarfs @Niall78
I love the broc riders, but the metal models are holding me back from commiting to another army…
Thanks Nav.
Not an issue for me. Would do rank and file in full metal if I had the money and could find the miniatures (most of the army metal fantasy miniature lines are nearly as old as me with odd scales to match).
Just finished a legion of zombies which is a big achievement for me personally I think multi basing is cool but want to keep these open for any game system.
Love it!
Command group, yes!
Single based models for maximum gaming flexibility, yes!
60 Zombies! Yes.
The Mantic Zombies (having just recently painted 60 my self) are surprisingly quick to paint and are a oozing with character. Really like your standard and musician.
Thanks @Stonehorse. I really like these mantic undead, just wish the zombies had a little bit better torso/arm/ leg combos. I have heaps of spines and ground pieces left. The mantic ghouls also are nice but having the arms moulded with torso was a bit limiting… thanks again mate hope to have more to show when I can.
EDIT: I think what KOW did in 1st edition with adding standard bearer deducted-1 to nerve test and musician add +1 to opponent nerve test was good. It gives a person motivation to make dedicated pieces in a unit… just my opinion
Agree 100% the lack of command groups bothers me. I’m converting some up for my Zombies from spare bits & bobs. With the popularity of multibasing I doubt we’ll see those rules return in future editions. Shame really.
i’m in agreement with @ClosetPainter + @Stonehorse on the command group. i do miss their benefits, and when possible, i do like to add them to a unit for added symetry
