I like the new blaster, just hope the Ogre one is same/similar. The old one used to do more harm to your own units unless you kept it away from the line.
They look quite fun.
Blaster changes look workable, mawpack launcher is a bit silly, and the flyer could be an interesting addition.
Like ( in general) the aura abilities seen so far, but not sure the goblin one will see that much use to be honest. Kudos for the Labyrinth reference in it though
Looks like 3rd edition is going to have a lot of unit-specific Special Rules compared to 2nd. Not sure if thatās good, bad, or neutral in the long run. Be curious to see what the game is like this time next year.
Does anyone know if there will still be two types of Giants? The āregularā Giant and the Colossal Giant (Mantic model).
It was mentioned somewhere that the colossal Giants were basically the Impetuous to make the Titan unit type. That doesnāt really answer your question but it opens the possibility of Monster Giants and Titan Giants.
Just have to wait an see I guess. Not too much longer. I just planned to have Reaper Bones Huge Fire Giants- but I donāt think they are anywhere near the size of the Mantic model. Its just too āsameyā for me. If more optional parts, heads, bits - were in the set, I would have been more likely to get it.
This a Reaper bones fire giant model:
Itās on a 50*50 base and fits well. I donāt think itās large enough for a titan (2nd picture compares it to a regular 28/32mm guy). I own two reaper fire giants and they are more or less the same size. Is there a larger one?
Exactly my thoughts. After seeing the goblins preview I am getting quite worried that KoW in 3ed will be cluttered by too many special rules. I have not been a fan of introducing the legendary spells (I think the game has not needed them at all) in CoK2019 and it looks it is getting much worse now. Do not take me wrong, I am very much for a larger diversification of the armies but not at the cost of making the game much more difficult to learn, e.g. because one would have to remember too many specific rules, abilities, spells etc. I am looking forward for the 3rd edition but have my fingers crossed on what I will think of it once it is out.
Check those Hunter changes! +1 Me | +1 Def | -30 pts vs -40% Att | Irregular | +5mm base size! I donāt think the Herder has an interaction with Verdant in Elves but the keyword may be relevant in one of the Pannithor lists, likewise Hunters could be regular in either Nature or Sylvan.
Well, Arbalests are more worth fielding now.
There are two types of Reaper Bones Giants now. The older model, and the newer HUGE model from the Kickstarter. Big difference. (ha!)
Iām still curious if war engines will make a comeback. I think it will depend on their lack of US in scenarios, but right now they are looking much better.
I think that they will be an easy choice for those times when you have too few points left to get a good unit but enough left that it seems wasteful to buy magic items with.
And then thereās probably going to be a faction or two that can efficiently spam Warmachines. In those cases we will probably see a lot of them for the first year.
Be curious to see how the Abyssal Dwarves are going to go. Also, be interested to see how the French end up after they are updated for 3rd.
Re Giant size.
Base sizes are (where available) dependent on the mantic model size. Hence giants of 75mm, as are dragons/wyrms in elf, basilea, undead, orc lists
Iād take it that any specific āgiantā entry will now be a Titan (on 75mm) and if lists had two versions (KoM for example) the 50mm one will go. Same with the big flyers in the lists mentioned.
No idea about monsters in lists that mantic donāt make models for though
What I heard is that 50mm monsters will remain esp for the lesser flyers like the KOM general on winged beast for example.
I thought Hunters were always on 25mm by 25mm bases?
Still the changes are nice to see Me 3+ and Def 5+ is quite good.
Odd that the rest of infantry doesnāt show archers, scouts or sea guard. Are Forest Guard a new unit, donāt think I recognise them.
Ranged Infantry is listed separately to normal infantry.
That is an odd choice.
Originally it was part of the list balancing (as ranged infantry is significantly different to normal infantry). It simply got carried across into layout. It just means that Archers et al. are on the next page.
